This is me (king of the adventure) and the the guy that drives me around.

The route from Powell to Lowell along the Lolo motorway was 140 miles.
Much of the road was rough. Lots of first/second gear standing up....other sections were fine. Average speed was low...they guys riding seemed to enjoy it and would ride 10-12 hours per-day.

We set camp (again) after dark...taken the next morning. The thing I remember about this camp was just looking at the stars. There was no moon and we were miles from and lights and it just took my little puppy breathe away!!

The next morning we started on the Magruder Road.

as you recall this road was closed for most of the summer last year. Here are some pictures of that fire.

You are looking at The Bitterroot MTs to the east. By the end of the day we will be on the other side of this range.

We were told a story about a old guy years ago that was stationed at this lookout that one day went to throw his garbage over the edge and the story is he slipped and followed it over

Someone threw a rock over the edge and counted to six before it hit!

Various pictures on the Magruder....you can see the road in the distance.

This is a island of life in the middle of last summers forrest fire.

This is the Selway River again....

On the left of this altitude graph we are coming off the Magruder down to the Selway River...if I did my dog math right that is a 7000 foot climb/descent in a short distance.

We rolled into Darby to refuel and found a local (very small) rodeo with a a excellant barbacue. No pictures. After eating we went up Gibbons pass and then camped at a local hot springs.

Meadow on top of Lost Trail Pass. We saw elk here

Though Rocko didn't mention it, I do believe he was satisfied with his driver in that there were no "get offs". Not that Rocko gets off, but he looks at me funny when he's laying sideways in this tank bag doggie carrier. Yes, I have crash tested him.

Can you see me I am wagging my tail?

Rock Creek....made famous by movie "A River Runs Through It"

Montana is called "The Big Sky". This picture was taken because the sky was so blue. Like seeing the stars on clear night no camera can capture it.

Thanks for letting me share my adventure....but then I am Rocco the King of Adventure....be safe!
