You got me. I love to troll, I can't help myself!

But seriously, I can't stand overly loud pipes; by that I mean ones that are louder than AMA levels like fully open non-muffled pipes on HDs. 98db or so... all good. Louder and it's not helping anything and the lack of back pressure is just ridiculous.

With servo exhaust cut outs.

Ok, this is awesome. I have to show my friend that has a M5 this setup - he'll love it. The servos are a really smart idea.

We had a W204 C63 AMG come in with the same set up, unlike the M5 it sounded terrible, like an UPS truck with a straight pipe.

that's odd, was it not tuned/chipped for the lack of back pressure or something (in comparison to the M5)?

the servo system reminds me of a friend's R1 - he made a control system using servos to flip his plate up and kill all of the running lights for CHP chases (which we did a bit more often than we should have).

Doh! I was thinking Church, State, and Money at the rate this thread was plunging. Hey, I guess now I know why Mensa never sent me a membership invitation.

Here's the E60. It sounds better in person when you can hear both sides at the same time.

That's a test plan, not data. What we need is a data that show engine performance and efficiency vs tail pipe aperture sound levels so we can tell if loud pipes save lap time or loud pipes save gas.

Aren't too many racing classes of anything motorized that use stock pipes. You think maybe the race teams might be on to something?
