Can we stop all the stereotyping?

Honestly, it gets tiring to read about how all Harley riders are weekend pirates and all KLR riders are cheap bastards. Could we maybe have an open mind and realize that we are all brothers in motorcycling?

Oh, by the way, I took this today:

It is a GS, so good bike, regardless of the possible furthering of stereotype. But, it is a BMW, so the owner is probably actually at Chipotle, and the Chipotle parking lot had a car in it, which means that the bike might get scratched, so the rider found a spot far away from every other vehicle.

Did you happen to ask how much the rider shelled out for his Whale Foreskin riding gear?

Ummmmm... in a word - no.

The very cyber fabric of ADVRider is held together by this divisive, yet bonding impermeable force... it is the annoying "get's stuck between your fingers" crazy glue, that maintains the fist like grip upon these forums of knowledge and injustice, and make us what we are...

So get off your Beaver Licking Baptist soapbox, before some outta control crotch rocket weener from Mullholland Drive screws the pooch and takes you out in the periphery - while trying to impress the Ducati wannabe paparazzi...

Is that the latest replacement/alternative to Squid-hide riding gear?

To be honest, if you rode your bike around the world (or even on any decent-sized adventure), you earn the right to take it to Starbucks, and you're still a badass. For some reason it reminds me of Tony Stark taking his Iron Man suit to the donut place.

I think ADVriders get a little jealous when they see a good potentially RTWer being "wasted" on the occasional Starbucks run and nothing else. Whenever we see an ADVer parking his rugged companion in an environment that clearly doesn't need it, we get a little sad. It reminds us that the day has arrived; the paved world doesn't need knobbies or thirteen inches of suspension travel. We'll go on about how an ADV bike is "wasted" on its Starbucks runs but then we'll realize - part of adventure is "wasting" money, time and personal well-being on something - some experience, wisdom, what have you - that we can't articulate to anyone who hasn't already experienced it.

tl;dr you can't "waste" an ADV bike on anything - maybe that's what makes them special.

(unless you total it on your way out of the dealership. Even then, at least maybe you learned something)
