Of course, a free car is easy to love. :

You drive a Camry SE? We got one for one of our managers. Cool "guys looking" car, sunroof, great gas mileage, and a hoot to drive.

go to the website and build one you can get it up to $24K.

for that money I'd got with an Accord all day long. why not?
The Accord will definitely be the most comfortable car on your list, and it may well be the most trouble-free. Great resale, etc. It will be hard to beat from a purely practical standpoint.

I drove a rented KIA Forte from Las Vegas to Sacramento via Death Valley and crossed some high passes along the way. It surprised me in a positive way, but only in the sense that it was on par with what I would have expected from a low-end car from a Japanese brand. Totally ordinary in every way.

The Z4 coupe is not a daily driver. It's a date/weekend car. I drive a diesel 2500 GMC pu as a daily driver so what do I know

I've been test driving anything and everything under 30K for about a month now. The Forte is much more car than the Hondas IMO. The Honda is vanilla. Interior is uninspired, almost robotic. Exterior is meh...

I was looking at the Elantra and the Forte. Sticker around $20.5K Had everything I wanted, bluetooth, power everything, auto, AC, cruise, alloys. You can jump up to the leather and roof models, but you said you want a commuter. 5yr 60K bumper to bumper and 10yr 100K powertrain warranty. Unbeatable. My wife's 04 Santa Fe with 115K on it has cost me tires and brakes. Zero issues. I'm told they've gotten better since 2004.

The car I liked the best so far is the 2013 Prius C3. $21.5K or so after discounts and 56-65 MPG (based on Fuelly) Buy the C1 or C2 and save even more (no Nav, etc) It was 90% as quiet as the Kia, had nearly as much room inside, similar power, smaller trunk area, but fold the seats down and it'll hold a bicycle. I figured that the 5-6K I'd save buying the Kia would be a wash after 5 years vs the Prius. I'd save $3500 in fuel and then the resale of the Kia in 5 years is unknown, but based on today's numbers the Prius would be 20%-35% better in resale.

BTW, the seats in the Prius are unbeatable. I was shocked at how comfy and supportive they were.

I drove the Optimas and Sonatas and like those as well. The Optima Hybrid was nice too, but the battery takes up 60% of the trunk.

Ford has some nice stuff in the 2014 Focus and Fiesta lines now. Focus outsells everything worldwide.

We? Who is "we" Kemosabe?

And buying a Camry?

Is there something you aren't told us, Ken? Is Advrider's most notorious bachelor, he of the above-ground pool with water features, settling down to be a family man?

"We" is my company. It's a company car for one of our branch managers.

Me personally, I would never drive any mid-sized piece-o-shit sedan

I did a lot of research when i bought the girl I adopted a college car. This is what I decided on

I tinted the windows.

It's got a bose stereo, sunroof, leather, zeon headlights, and handles like a go-cart. Fast as shit too. Hatch back with a fold down rear seat for perfect for going to and from college.

Flug, I do think you owe it to yourself to test drive both the Mazda 3 and Mazda 6. Reputation for sportier handling, and better quality reputation than the made in Mx VW's. Both can be had with a manual transmission if that matters to you.

I drove an accord for ~275k miles and loved that car. It did everything and never ever game me a problem.
When I went to go look at a new one I never would have dreamed it would have evolved as much as it did. Not only that, their near spotless track record was pretty much gone as well (just judging from friends of mine that have newer ones and some of the research I did online)
The wife and I drove a whole bunch of cars and didn't much like any of them until we drove the Passat. I knew the second we pulled away from the dealership that the Passat was perfect, 30K miles and almost two years in and we love it - and made in Tennessee
Drive a passat if you haven't - I recommend the TDI.... and get a stick!

even the cops have em now back east...
