Prolly taking the beemer this year - time to do the "dirt dragon"

And I suggest Mark should update the first post in huge letters with date and location ... just saying

Hey Mark, might want to change the font size or color to make it easier to see.

The other option would be for someone to start a new thread with the date and place in the title and using it to take a head count for camping, shirts, and stickers.

I'm putting in for the friday before and the weekend off right now, hopefully I'll get approved and then all I have to do is decide if I want to abuse the R100GS (and myself) offroad again or bring a street only ride.

Sorry, Andy. I could have sworn when I did it Bold that I also changed it to yellow. Fix't again

That's about as good as I can get it right now - working with one eye due to cataract surgery this morning.

Pheh! The eye place has gone to clear eye shields to avoid that pirate stigma. And only for the day of surgery. Now just have to wear those goofy old-man slip over dark sunglasses for a while.

Did my post op follow up this morning - the eye is already 20/20. It was never better than 20/25 or 20/30 all my life, and was worse than 20/50 with the cataract. I am amazed. In fact, the doctor doing the follow up was almost amazed too. Should be completely healed in plenty of time for the Rally.

I only do things halfway...... Only the left eye had the cataract for the past year. The right eye is just barely starting to cloud at the edge of the lense, so surgery isn't justified until it gets worse and affects vision on that side.

I can honestly say the surgery itself is an interesting experience. They make the eye totally numb, give you a little Versyd via IV so you aren't as likely to twitch from nervousness(not enough to get a good high, though ). After about 40-50 minutes of preop stuff, the actually surgery only takes 10-15 minutes and all you see is a bright light like when a doctor is looking in the eye at the retina. That light wiggles around as they cut into the eye, pulverize the cataract and draw it out through the incision, then insert a rolled up lense in its place and unroll it. I was a little apprehensive going in, but like my neighbor who just had the same surgeon do a cataract and corneal transplant told me, its really very interesting.

I stopped by the CG on Saturday and reserved Cabin #4....... Cabins 6 & 7 were still available if anyone wants one. The CG now has an Ice Box for our cold beer and drink mixing pleasures as well..... Yo Jimbo,..... You gonna come up with a shirts/sticker design? What about Cogswell?? Don? The Kilted Yak? Also, who's planning on doing gravel, and who's planning on a road ride?
