Starting to look like something again.....fender installed, started mocking up the MAC 2-1 exhaust (made for a GS450, so it didn't bolt right up). Also traded the stock mag wheels for some spoke wheels.

Used the wheel and spokes from a GT750 to convert the stock 16" wheel to an 18" wheel:

Wheel painted, tire installed, chain installed, along with a painted sprocket:

I never did take a picture of the dent in the side of this tank.....but to make a long story short, my neighbor does body work and paint, and owed me a favor:

Looked so good I just had to roll it outside for a picture:

Added a taillight from a Hodaka:

And a universal SuperTrapp muffler to replace the MAC unit:

And so concluded another "wrenching season". Weather was nice, and the bike got ridden some more.........

The gray paint on the wheels never did seem right to me. Just something about them.....so they got painted with Duplicolor Metalcast paint:

While I had the front wheel apart, I found an 18" rim and matching spokes to lace it up:

Replaced the headlight / speedometer with a nice one from Acewell:

And after seeing this "Japan only" Suzuki, I started getting new ideas for paint:

Ditched the steel fender I was running for a fiberglass one from RocCity. Painted to match the new tank & seat scheme:

Sorry about the crappy pic, but here's the tank & seat paint after it was done:

Along with the other upgrades, I got an 83 GS650 Katana fairing from Airtech:

Finally! Got it wired up, running, and ready to go. I restored this other GR while working on mine. But since I had 2 running GR650's, I figured it was a great opportunity to take a picture of them side by side:

Why can't I just leave well enough alone?

For personal reasons, I decided to take the bike another direction (again). First up, changing to a larger gas tank from a GS850:

It is considerably larger.....more than 2 gallons larger. I REALLY liked that Metalcast paint - especially when it's sprayed onto bare metal:

With a new (read: longer) tank, I have to redo the seat. Besides, that Hammer seat was massive:

Also had to have new tank mounts welded in:

Updated the front end from the GS650's 35mm dual caliper to a GS850's 37mm dual caliper:

That's all my time for this morning! I've made a few other upgrades since these, but that's round about where I'm at......
