Tickets are supposed to arrive today....we shall see. Still not sure whether I'm going to ride to cage it down. It's not much of a "ride" from Toronto to Indy...just straight boring interstate for the most part if I recall from 2008. Plus, if I cage it I can bring more amazing American craft beer home with me (Three Floyds!!!). :)

Kate and I will be coming up from NC. We'll have a bunch of Oskar Blues in tow. I think we may camp. We'll see.

You mean the OB site? I'll pass that along to our web people. I'm looking forward to sharing beers with the good people this weekend.

Today was a long day. My brother insisted that we walk through downtown to go to his favorite coffee place. After a light breakfast there, we then walked to a CVS to pick up some supplies (sunscreen, extra ear plugs, etc.), then walked back. We stopped off at a sporting goods store so I could get a floppy hat, then off to the track. We got there quite early, so rather than just sit around, we walked all over checking stuff out. I met Earl & Rose Hayden at their little store in the accessory section, and bought a signed Nicky Ducati model, then we finally walked back to the office to meet up for the track walk.

The track walk was pretty cool - it was not escorted with talking points, but rather was just a period when we could walk the course freely. We managed to walk it in about 50 minutes, stopping to take the occasional pictures (which I will post after the races). I also met some ADV'ers, and hope to meet even more over the next few days.

Finishing the track walk, before dinner we had time to check out the museum. I got to see three cars there that I had always wanted to see: Mario Andretti's 1969 race winner, Joe Leonard's 1968 STP Turbine, and Mark Donohue's 1972 Sunoco McLaren race winner, which I think may be the prettiest race car ever. Pics to follow.

Plus they had Cal Rayburn's record-setting streamliner:

The we headed to the dinner and classes. Chow was good: salad, rolls, entree of chicken and beef over smashed potatoes and veggies. Chocolate cake for dessert. Then we linked up with our station captain, Ken, and received additional instruction. We were done by around 7:30, and headed home. I bet we walked nine miles total today. My feet are sore.

More to follow!

We just got to the Lot 2 campground... with a flat. Does anyone here have a 27mm wrench for the axle nut & a stand to hold the bike up? We'll be attempting to get the wheel off & take it into a tire shop in the morning.

It was an inch long gash in the tire. He got AAA to tow him to a dealer & had a new tire mounted under warranty so all is well now.
