I've got about the same on the clock, 60K miles, and it runs like new, probably even better than new. Uses about .2 l of oil in 4000 miles. Aside from consumables, the occasional suspension service, I just ride it.

I have maintained it well, but I have ridden the piss out of it too, crashed, bashed and flogged. About half the miles are off pavement and off-road. The bike has not had an easy life by any means and its not pretty, its scratched and dinged to hell. Doesnt seem to bother it.

Just do the TSB's and check on the 'HOW' what other culprints there might be. Once u gone trough all the little nitpicks the bike is bulletproof. It just needs some attention.

Don't thrust dealerships or someone else on engine work. If you know your way around wrenches, just do a checkup on the whole bike and you wil be rewarded with a bulletproof commuter.

You might be right about that.

I was with MY ADV the day he rolled over 100,000, and IIRC, the conversation indicated his engine was both original and relatively trouble-free. But he joined the forum about the same time I did, and yet he has only 437 posts, so yeah: as I sit here writing this, he probably is out riding.

My 05.5 950 made it to 106K miles, (170590.5 Kilometers), before it was struck from behind by a pickup truck and it was totaled. I came out of it okay, luckily I landed on my head. Picked up a new 2012 990R in April and I'm at 7.8K miles so far.
