Not the finest moments for Buck or Chuck.

the Father of rock and roll,,

the only things Elvis didn't steal from Chuck Berry was being pretty and being white,,those were given to him.

Chuck is probably most responsible for R&R as it is today, but don't forget Bo Diddley. Just a few yrs younger and playing in the 40's. On Ed Sullivan in '55 and banned for playing two songs. Basically for being "uppity".
One of the first men to let women in the band.

this one is cool.

Chuck and Bo maybe early 70's?

Chuck and Keith. Chuck is a demanding guy. This is one of his babies. Keith comes from a very loose band. A clash of titans. The band expressions crack me up.

OK, It's killin me. I gotta throw in at least one piece of exotica. Step onto the 10 meter platform with me.
This is like traveling. Do you stay in your comfort zone a 100 mi from home, or would you rather sleep in unfamiliar beds and wake to morning prayers being called from a minerett. I'm the latter. Get adventurous.

Ishtar, an Israeli/French singer. Sings in many languages and mixes them. Looks like a southern California housewife, but some serious pipes. Sometimes under Alabina, but that is the name of the band.

I guess you are much more observant than I am.

Well, I did notice he was white, but....

Don't get me wrong, of course Elvis did get most of his early music from black musicians, but I think most of them came before Chuck.

If you liked any of the BIG sounds or the exotics, I just post a few in the basement. Come on down, just don't look them directly in the eye.

'Rock?' ^^^

I did say it was different.

I like the way they make it all work with nothing but hands, feet and voices.

Well Ok, that second one you added with your edit wasn't bad.

But, you did say Rock, and even though you didn't also say Roll, I am old so...

Ya know...

I think peterman may have just unwittingly started the "Great PNWet Listening Pleasure" thread. This could grow faster than road moss in April. Lots more fun than that "Hey Toad Rash!"thread. Just hope we don't get flushed to the basement. It's dark and skeery down there.

Good work ya grumpy ol' bastige!

Well Good Golly, Lucille reminded me of Miss Molly, and a line in that song reminded me of another of the songs from my youth that I liked.

Yeah I know, it is neither rock, nor rock and roll, but it does have some good piano work.

And, (maybe now we can forgive Elvis) it too was ripped off from somebody else.

And yes, I remember when 78s were the the only records.

And in case anyone wondered at my initial puzzlement at the current use of the term hipster, see this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hipster..._subculture%29

Jump forward a couple decades.
