CNNA 2014.2 has been released.

If I can get the updates to work.

You might find some info to help you in one of the posts of the WaFT.

Thanks. I think my problem was that although I had bought the lifetime update card, I had failed to assign it to a unit (the Montana) so it wouldn't work. Managed to assign it through "my dashboard" and am now attempting to load the maps via the old right-click on Montana internal memory in BaseCamp. Fingers crossed.

I've never heard of right clicking the map in Basecamp to update it. I find the only successful method is through the Mapupdater software I linked to in the WaFT.

I think BaseCamp calls the map updater software when you do this. I right-click on "Internal storage" then select "Install maps on..."

But, although it did successfully load 2014.2 to the unit, it did NOT remove 2014.1, even though the software claimed it would remove older versions. Any thoughts about what I should do, if anything?

You can probably just delete it via mass storage mode. That's what I do.

Worth a shot. I'll hook it up and see if I can figure out the correct file to delete.

ETA: Ok, that was easy. It had 2014.1 in the filename.

I thought that pic just called MapInstall? Which would mean you'd have to have already installed the Maps to BaseCamp in order to install them on the Montana with MapInstall.

You folks on the East Coast must be special - I still don't see 2014.20 LM update on the Garmin site.

The sun rises on us first, too.

Well, my installation process was maybe a little unusual because I have both a Zumo 350 and a Montana with "lifetime" maps. I had done the map install for the computer and Zumo before I grabebed the Montana to update its maps. So, yes, the map set was already on the hard drive.

That makes more sense. I didn't think Basecamp could make a map update call.

I started the whole thing off by hooking up to the Garmin "my dashboard" because that has been an easy way to get GPS software updates. For no particular reason, it has been my habit to always do the Zumo first, followed by the Montana. I had read in the big Montana thread about 5.30(?) being out, so thought I'd hook up and check both GPS units because maybe there would be a Zumo update too (there wasn't), but was surprised to see that it listed my maps as out of date, so off I went.

So far I'm good to go on everything but the old zumo 550. In the past, there has always been the option to select a paired down region that met my requirements, this time there was no eastern seaboard option, so I'm trying to figure out how to blow away what is on the GPS so I can selectively install what I want.

Do you have an SD memory card installed in the Zumo? If so, and if you have the space you can load the entire file in a Garmin folder on the SD card, and then select the map file you want to use. An inexpensive 8gb card holds both US and Europe for me.

Thanks, I didn't need the entire thing, the new Express Update didn't give me the selective options I wanted. Solution from Garmin was to use the old trusty Map Update program which is still out there and works. The two options are to take one of the regions that it provides (there are a couple more), or download the entire mess to the PC and use the Mapinstall program to select what I want.

I'm good to go now, didn't want the world, just the eastern US and CaNaDa.

Is the new City Navigator NA 2014 available on CD yet for loading onto a PC?
