"Beak" on a KLR?

Anyone ever installed one of the beak fenders for a GS on the bottom of the fairing on a KLR? Love the look of the short fixed fender on the GS but don't have $5K (yet) for that 650 Dakar. I'd like to have some insight before I blow $250 on something I can't make work & look decent....

No shit right? The fairing on 'em is god awful, but it's been a damn good first bike (first street-legal anyway).

Are you thinking of getting a low fender for the KLR or go with a beak only? The beaks are pretty worthless in terms of functionality, more of a looks thing methinks.

I assume we're talking current gen KLR, but a KTM SM fender doesn't look the worst.

a more practical option is a lowered fender. easy to do with an Eagle fork brace because it is already drilled (unlike the one I used). there is less mud in the face, and if the replacement fender doesn't have the slots like the stocker, there is way less mud in the radiator. and more cooling air I might add. I don't know what fender it is I put on there... the guy in the shop didn't know either but thought it was UFO, I paid $20 for the fender (7 years ago).

To each their own, and not to offend, but those GS "beaks" are one thing that I hate about the beemers as far as aesthetics go...

I've always thought a motorcycle shouldn't really need 4 fenders.

The mud on the headlight is the perfect demonstration of why most aftermarket fenders are a waste of money.

We did a trip a couple of weeks ago. Two 2nd gen bikes along, one stock, one with an Acerbis front fender. It was easy to see how much dirtier the Acerbis was, and how it covered the headlight in mud.

Save your money.

No having to look at the seagull front end of my KLR and the improved highway aerodynamics make the $25 KTM fender mod well worth it. Saving my headlight from some mud spray is not a high priority...

Plus it takes no time to go back to stock if I ever felt the need for a specific ride.

my beat-up, ridden hard and put away wet and thoroughly loved 05 KLR looks just fine from the seat . . . I suggest it is the best place from which to view your motorcycle.
