Subscribed. In for the super mods on this one. Sure wish Yamaha Europe controlled Canada instead of USA, then we could get the 660 here too.

Yeah.. i can`t understand why as so many of you like this bike...

Meanwhile, few weeks ago I was in the 30th years Tenere Meeting in Bonaduz (Switzerland). I saw lots of nice 660:

But this was my favourite, I love the blue Sonauto:

Mainly as there is very little in the way of a good 600-700cc adventure bike available in the US market. You could start with a good KTM 690 and spend as much as the purchase price sourcing the parts to make it one. Then you will have a $20k or more adventure bike that you will never be able to sell at half the price even if you never ride it. Then there is the KLR 650, decent/basic but not really what most are looking for, and barely has changed in the last forever. Then? I think that may be it. Yamaha no, the old honda xl650l, its ok but no adv bike. dr650, heavy and again no adventure bike.. that leaves us with ?? BMW? if you fine a 650x and build, again, same as the ktm. so it be nice to have another option.. not sure this is a good, ok or great bike. Looks good. I'd like to throw a leg over one.

Yeah... this is the idea. I hope in a couple of years when the 660 is finish and I'm getting bored, Yamaha will launch the 850 three cilinder...
Seem that my contacts in Hamamatsu are doing their work

I'm not going to search this 900 out on the Internet as most likely I'll just get pissed off we don't get that either here. Good luck with the build!!

The 900 is only a rumour. We all hope Yamaha launch a 850/900 based on the MT09 engine. If they build an adventure bike wich wheigh less than 200kg, with this three cilinder engine, ....

I'm quite convinced they will bring out a XT850Z or XT900Z.

When they released the 660 in 2008 I was in doubt to wait for a bigger one. I had the feeling Yamaha would release a big brother. Bought the 660 (no regrets) and couple years later they did manufactured the 1200.

Still love my Ténéré and the looks of it after 102.000km, but I'm definitly in for a 900 version! I hope the ergonomics and looks will be more like the small version. The 1200 is a bit too rounded imo.

Any updates on your work yet?
