1. You have to be logged in.
This is what it looks like when I log in.

2. Next you need to either create a new Gallery or open an existing Gallery.
To create a new Gallery, click the green box like this.

3. I'm going with 'add to existing Gallery' First I open the Gallery I want to add pics to.

4. You'll need to select an 'uploader'. Once selected, your computer should remember this, and you will skip this step in the future.

5. I like choice #1 Simple. It looks like this.

6. Follow instructions, then when you get here, you shouldn't have any isssues, but if you, ask

You need a legitimate file address. Your link cuts off way too early. There is no '.jpg',.'png' or '.gif' at the end.

You might also want to try editing your previous posts with the button.

As a adjunct to this thread How to post an image started by Baldy, I created this small, screen shot heavy post as a simple tutorial.

This does not cover many of the more complex image posting questions covered in the above thread.

This is by NO MEANS the only way to post an image, but it works.

If a picture is worth a 1000 words etc... then I hope this helps.

Part 1: How to upload to Smugmug.

1. You have to be logged in.
This is what it looks like when I log in.

2. Next you need to either create a new Gallery or open an existing Gallery.
To create a new Gallery, click the green box like this.

3. I'm going with “add to existing Gallery”. First I open the Gallery I want to add pics to.

4. You'll need to select an “uploader“. Once selected, your computer should remember this, and you will skip this step in the future.

5. I like choice #1 Simple. This is what looks like this.

6. Follow instructions, then when you get here, you shouldn't have any issues.

Part 2: Posting

First you'll need to copy the Properties of the image you wish to post.

Right click and select Properties from the popup. Then copy the Address / url like this.

Now, if you'll look up at bar on the window where you type, you'll see a little yellow box w/ a mountain and sun.

You need to click that, paste in the “properties” you copied from your image and click 'ok'.

All the dialog box does is put this >> [img] << on the front of the pic property line and this >> [/img] << on the end of that line.

Like this>>> [IMG] http: //shoganai.smugmug.com/photos/375775926_dHHCt-L.jpg [/IMG]

Resulting in this

I suggest clicking the “Preview Post” to see if it worked.

Changing the Size of the posted pic

In the properties line, you will notice the following:
Ti.jpg = Tiny
S.jpg = Small
M.jpg = Medium
L.jpg = Large

http ://shoganai.smugmug.com/photos/49524138_cXMH6-Ti.jpg

http ://shoganai.smugmug.com/photos/49524138_cXMH6-S.jpg

http ://shoganai.smugmug.com/photos/49524138_cXMH6-M.jpg

http ://shoganai.smugmug.com/photos/49524138_cXMH6-L.jpg

There are several ways to do this.

One way is after pasting your link in the scripting popup, you can change the size letter to >>> Ti, S, M, or L <<<.

Or after hitting "OK", you can change it here, like this.

Another way is to click >>> Small, Medium, Large, Original <<< links in the popup.

Which takes you here. Just right click for properties, copy and follow directions above.

Posting via Attaching pics.

The Following was covered by Baldy in this thread >>> How to post an image

Posting from Photo Bucket.

PB puts the [img] [/img] tags on the address for you. So all you have to do is copy this line shown here.

And paste it right in the text box like this.

Part 3: Scripting Popup Blocker

If you click the dialog box, and get a pale yellow bar near the top of your screen that says something about “scripted window”, take a look here.

This is the yellow bar I'm talking about.

If you see that, then you need to click the bar, and this will appear.

Click the highlighted choice, and the bar will go away.

Then click the picture icon again.

Part 4: Errors and Solutions

If you right click for properties on a picture under the Gallery name, you get this.

Note in the highlighted area the word "random".

You cannot use this to post a pic as it doesn't address a specific picture.

Another issue is when you move your curser over the pic you wish to post, there's a the popup on the right.

See here.

If you make the mistake and right click for properties on the popup, it looks almost like what you want.

With this difference...

http: //shoganai.smugmug.com/gallery/4220767_EUTkB#378081069_C5Rxw-X3-LB

That also will not work for posting a pic.

Pics must be in jpeg format, not bmp (bitmap).

There are many programs that will convert an image file to and from lots of formats. This is a good one. http://www.irfanview.com/
Popular and free.

This is another way to change a bmp file to jpeg.

Here's a bmp image.

The way you can tell is to look at the properties.

See the .bmp at the end of the properties line.

Hit the "Prt Sc" (Print Screen) key on the upper right hand of the keyboard.

Then open "Paint", click "Edit" then "Paste"

It will look like this.

Then click "File" and "Save as"

Select the folder you want to save the image to, then select the highlighted option to save as a JPEG.

I know I didn't cover everything, but I hope this helps somebody.
