That's kind of my opinion. The apps for iOS are better IMO, but the hardware for other phones is superior.

I spent the weekend at a friend's cabin, and of the three of us that get together all have different phones. I have an iPhone 4s, one friend has a new Galaxy (Android) and the other has a Windows phone (not sure which one.) The Galaxy is really impressive, especially the screen. My experience, which granted, is a few years ago, is that the android apps in many cases are of lower quality than the iOS because of Apple's stricter standards (obviously if you jailbreak your phone, it opens other options.) I'm due for an upgrade in a couple months, and I suspect we'll stick with Apple - I don't want to have to repurchase stuff I've paid for, and my wife and I will want to remain on the same platform so we don't have to duplicate apps (which was the case before when I was on Android and she was on iOS.).

4s w/iOS 7

I upgraded last week...the files are out there.

it is very nice, it's plenty fast w/cool features.

the flat icons are a bit of a shock, but quickly adjusted to.

probably going for the 5s if US Cellular gets it.

My battery life on my 4S has sucked balls, I'm hoping maybe iOS7 will fix that.

I leave for a week business trip tomorrow. Do I upgrade today, or wait until I get back?

I've been running iOS 7 since beta 1. Battery life seems a little better but is tough to tell since my usage habits vary wildly day to day.

battery life

battery life seems about the same. I leave Siri off, she sucks the juice, and I do not have coverage at home, the phone scans for a signal constantly. I think this is why it usually goes down by about 30% overnight if not plugged in.

It's not worse, for sure

Just noticed something interesting: I hade deleted all but a few apps back in July to try and fix the battery. I've since added some back and the battery was better.

I added the Podcast app a few weeks ago and the battery has again gotten bad. Maybe that app is the issue. I just deleted it, just in case.

The large change in the new phones is 64 bit processing. Less than 1% of people probably understand why that is a big deal.

The fingerprint scanner could revolutionize device security, if it is much better than what has been implemented before. Those laptop scanners suck.
Um, cause it is TWICE as good as 32bit?

I had an iPhone 4, and updated to an iPhone 5. Battery life is similar as long as there is a signal. When I am in areas without coverage, the 5 uses a lot of power trying to find a signal. It did not matter switching cellular and wi-fi off, the phone still consumed battery power quickly. When using the 4, switching off cellular and wi-fi conserved the battery nicely. So now I have less battery life when camping outside of coverage and when using my GPS app on the iPhone 5.

I updated last night. Not sure how long it took, I plugged the phone in and left it while I went out to dinner.

My first impression is meh. I'm not crazy at all about the look; too much white. I do like the new pull up screen with that instant on flash light and access to your network settings and brightness. It took some googling to figure out how to close apps (you now flick the screen shot of them up and away). Oh, and deleting emails now means flicking to the left.

What I don't like, and hope it was just that I was trying so many apps, is that the battery drained 13% while trying it all out.

Anyone know how to load purchased videos (TV, movies) onto your iPhone with iOS7 installed?

Before, I'd see what I purchased on the cloud and pic to download it, so I could watch it on my flight. Now, it seems the only option is to instant stream?! I don't see a way to download to the device for later offline viewing.

And battery down 6% with just a little use! Apple hit another one outta the park! (Yes, that is dripping with sarcasm. 7%!)

Here's a good link for new iOS7 users: Lifehacker

I suck at phones as much as computers. I have and Iphone 5 and wanted to know if I need to change to the IOS7 or is it already on my phone. Got the phone back in June and it works great just not sure if an update is needed?

And my current backround. 09 Fatboy at sunrise.
