Thoughts and prayers from great falls. I will put the word out around the state to all the folks with Montana motorcycle rider safety to say a prayer for her. If you need anything at all, I will do what I can to mobilize the rider coach community for you. Some of the best people/riders I know are in your area in billings.

at the hospital

lot's of pain today after surgery so lot's of drugs, six screws and a ten inch by 3/8" bolt to reattach her pelvis to the spinal column. Drugs have her pretty zoned out,

wear a full face helmet out there, without it she would be dead. Laurie always rode with her visor down, and this prevented the glass from the side window her face went trhough from destroying her eyes and face.
just a thought, be safe, and thanks

Just read this, so so sorry. Laurie sounds tough enough to survive and get over this, sad she has to go through the suffering.

You guys are in my thoughts.

Changes

Tonight Laurie was moved from the ICU to a standard hospital room, great news, she is stabile and improving. The 64 dollar question is how much her head comes back. Thanks again for the well wishes, scary how fast your life can change and how little some shit ,mostly things, really matter. The only way I sleep is with a couple of 12 oz. valiums, aka, a couple of beers. lost about 5 pounds so far, and I really wasn't fat. But hings are starting to turn for the better.

Icebox, I am a survivor of a closed head injury with bleeding on the brain from a motorcycle-cage encounter in 1972. Tell her that I said how she does with this is pretty much up to her. She sounds to be a fighter so she has that in her favor. Tell her that to not get too upset about what she remembers and what she doesn't. That all of my memories came back after a while except for memory of the event itself. There, even now, I just have a few flashes of memory of what happened to me that day, kind of like event flashes in a TV show or a movie and most of these memories of my accident only came to me years after the accident.

And this to you Icebox... She WILL get better. You have to believe this with your very soul.

Both of you are in my prayers.

I know that there are positive outcomes, and I do believe. Doesn't stop you from being scared at times, throw in a 243 mile one way commute to the Hospital and no matter what you listen to on the radio shit creeps in. The worst are self recriminations, could I have delayed her leaving? Why the f... did I teach her to ride? but that is fading, bad luck and clearly the other twits fault. I want the judge to sentnece her to look at a picture of Lauries face in the ICU every morning she gets in her car for the rest of her life.By the way, I ain't an old fart yet, and you are younger than I am. Keep trucking and Thanks. Now the work starts, and Lauries is tough as hell, mentally and physically.
