Started the day with Colorado National Monument.

Then I headed north to Dinosaur National Monument. The route passed through the Douglass Wild Horse Preserve. I don't know how anything can find feed in such an arid barren area.

Dinosaur was stunning.

I had planned to camp here but the road to Echo Springs was marked four wheel drive only and was 12 miles long. I decided it was too risky with a full load, tires at highway pressures, having no information about the road and coming on dark. I still don't have a way to run my tire pump. The canbus system shuts down the plug whenever I connect it.
I ended up at the KOA in Vernal Utah. Clean showers, laundry and wifi, and inmates.

I went over to Provo Utah today to visit my sister.

I found a great campsite in Deer Creek State Park overlooking Deer Creek Reservoir.

Set up my tent and stowed my gear and headed to town.
Went to Best Buy in Provo and bought a card reader and a GoPro3 silver edition!
The next time a herd of bighorn sheep cross my path I'll be ready.
I went out to dinner with my sister's family.
Returned to my camp to find someone had broken a beer bottle in front of my tent door. Creepy.
Slept with my cell phone on and bear spray next to me but no further problems.

8/20/13 The next morning was beautiful.
View from my campsite.

I got dressed to run. As I was stretching my neighbor came over and invited me to breakfast. It was his last day out and he wanted to use up his food. He had been to Miller Motorsports park for a motocross race.

I packed up and headed for the Tetons.
Heading north from Heber I passed the Jordanelle Reservoir.

I went through Wasatch National Park and into Wyoming on Highway 89.
Bear Creek in Wasatch National Park

Leaving the Wasatch Range behind.

Nice ride through some beautiful ranch country after leaving Wasatch.

I stayed in Afton,Wy in Star Valley (home of Rulon Gardiner- remember the Wyoming farm boy turned Olympic wrestler who won the gold in Greco-Roman wrestling from the Russian favorite who had held it for 13 years).
As I was looking over the restaurant options online I see a fresh seafood restaurant. I think "Fresh SEAFOOD in Afton,Wyoming- maybe not." Then I read some reviews- all 5 star. Apparently the guy flys it in fresh daily. So this I gotta see. If this is true I owe it to the guy to eat there. Sure enough. He has the freshest looking seafood in the display case that I have ever seen. I had clam chowder and calamari; the best I have ever had. Unbelievable. Apparently the locals appreciate it. The place was full of old farmers and ranchers looking for a change from pulled pork and beef brisket. Rocky Mountain Seafood- Who knew?

Do you happen to recall the name of the restaurant, and maybe it's locale? I pass through beautiful downtown Afton often and a place like that would be a welcomed stop.

The restaurant is called Rocky Mountain Seafood.

It is right on Highway 89 between 4th and 5th avenues. It is a small place, nothing fancy and they close at 7PM. No reservations, no wi-fi but excellent seafood.

Hope you don't miss Bisbee and Tombstone! Ride Charleston Road from Sierra Vista to Tombstone, then leave Tombstone towards Gleeson and hit the Rattlesnake Ranch right before Gleeson on the right, then on to Bisbee. Also, a nice ride from Tucson to Sierra Vista thru, the back road sorry can't remember the name of the town, goes toward Patagonia. Nice Pics so Far. Also, back way from Phoenix to Tucson thru Globe.

Left Afton ,Wyoming this morning headed for the Tetons. Before leaving I made arrangements for a badly needed rear tire to be installed in Cody on Friday at Mountain Valley Motorsports.

The Tetons

I rode Teton Pass to see how the GoPro would do. No luck. I need more practice finding the controls at speed with gloves on. I'll download the app for my phone that allows preview and control with the phone when I have a signal.
I camped in Teton National Park just outside the border of Yellowstone. I am camped next to another solo woman motorcyclist. She owns a B& B in Gardner Montana and slipped away for some solo hiking leaving her KLR to mind the campsite.
There is Wifi in the laudromat but it is too overtaxed to upload photos or get the app for my Gopro. Maybe tomorrow.
Tomorrow I will do as much of Yellowstone as time allows and then get closer to Cody to stop for the night.

Thanks for the tips. I'm taking notes for a Southwest trip to be taken in cooler weather. August didn't seem like the best time to go to Arizona, New Mexico, Texas and Utah. So I'm staying high on this trip.

Rocky Mountain Seafood ... I assume they serve regional "oysters" as well.

I appreciate the tip!

Didn't ask about the source of their oysters.

Got up early and went for a run. Came back and packed up.
Met a neighbor, Sjoerd, who was from Holland. He quit his job and is riding a bicycle from Alaska to Chile. Then to Australia.
He took a photo of me because he thought the bike was so big and I so small.
Rode through the southeastern corner of Yellowstone.

Mud geyser

I was off schedule from Old Faithful and rain was coming.
Rte 212 (the Beartooth Highway) was closed due to a fire. Much of the park that I saw showed signs of heavy fire damage.
This area was regenerating well.

Rode through Shoshone National park on the way to Cody.

I had thought I might camp there but the campgrounds were all posted hard sided campers only because of Grizzly bears.
Checked into the Best Western and went to see about my tire. It had not yet arrived. I will call in the morning.
I went home took a dip in the pool, had a shower and did laundry.
I bought a ticket for the Rodeo.

If you are in town it is a good show.
