4 way stop

For simple straight through you yield to the guy on your right just like a 2 way.

Gets a bit tricky when all 4 vehicles arrive at the same time.

Also tricky when someone wants to turn but that is why I prefer roundabouts or, as we used to call them in Joisey, traffic circles.

Everybody yields to traffic in the circle.
Sometimes you just gotta!

I have found that if you blip your throttle a few times car drivers will let you go right away.

Ettiquette? How about "Get there first, go first; get there at the same time, yield to the RIGHT (hence RIGHT of way)"

I understand the rules. I'm referring to the fact that these people can become quite adamant about the motorcycle going before them.

A simple solution would be a roundabout. Or if that is overkill, the vehicle from the right has the right of way. That way no one has to stop if there is no traffic.

But as things are, once someone waves me on, I don't hesitate and just go and wave a thank-you. That way everyone is happy and no time is wasted.
I think there might be a more scenic route somewhere...

Carlin had it right. Further, under the law, if you wave someone into traffic and they become involved in a crash, you assume some percentage of liability.

I just stare at the ignorant sheep who are waving at me. If they keep insisting, I point sharply back at them. I just don't want to be anywhere near crossing in front of one of these tentative, nervous assholes.
Be kind whenever possible. It is always possible.

It's as if no one knows the abbreviation (Symbolic Tap On Pedal) that it stands for. Sheesh.

The only time I accept the invitation to go first is if the other vehicle and I are the only vehicles at the intersection. That way there is nobody there to hit me, except the person that waved me through, and they have the same chance of hitting me either way... Otherwise, I use the "ignore and look the other way" tactic until they or somebody else goes.
