I recently sold my 2008 Heritage Anniversary Classic for $12000 which is book value up here. Back in 08 that bike was selling for in excess of $ 25000., then everything went bang with the economy.

Bikes no matter what brand etc are a tough sell on the used market. I always find out what the book value is and then price it accordingly.

A used bike is only worth what somebody will give you and in most cases I've had to low ball it to get rid of the bike.

I'm not a golfer and bikes are really a hobby for me ( I ride about 12000 miles/yr. ) and so I depreciate whatever bike I'm riding by $2000/yr, so that when it comes time to sell I'm really not looking for much for the bike.

Its been my experience that bikes, no matter the brand don't hold their value any better than cars or trucks. There may have been a time when this was true, but the current market is so flooded with motorcycles that unless it is a limited production or rare bike, don't expect to make money.

It will likely be in the $10K range. I have not even seen a 2014 Road King here yet.

If you want to go all out I have an FLHRSE5 Anniversary Edition The first and last Road King with the Audio System. (They stripped it from the 2014 FLHRSE)

Back when the economy was better and demand exceeded suppy it was not myth but fact. 2-3 year old HD's often sold for as much or more than new. Now that the economy has softened and the suppy chain has caught up or in some cases exceed demand, it is no longer true and deals can be had on HD.

Simple economics 101.
