Edit: package from cj

It looks like I spoke too soon on the hardware, I'm not sure if they were sent separately on purpose, they were forgotten from the original box, it was a drop shipping setup, or CJ saw this post but today in my mailbox was a package of fasteners!

Again, super happy with everything and these will probably just wind up in the bolt drawer until the next oil change.

Sorry for any confusion on this and I'm sorry the hardware did not make it to you before or the same time the skidplate arrived. I'm just seeing these posts now.

As we returned from the KTM rally, I've been busy getting back orders out and was sold out of skidplate so I had a few drop shipped as soon as they were made instead of them being shipped to me and then back out. I was trying to catch up with hardware kit builds and shipments. Looks as if UPS got there faster than I thought.

ALL CJ Designs version skidplates, as linked above, come with and NEED the REQUIRED NEW hardware as my skidplate version does not use the Rubber grommets and the OEM hardware will not work.

WELD86 produces my skidplate version with a few specific CJD Required tweaks to make it better for my use and that's what is offer directly from CJ Designs.

Safe travels,
CJ

I'm interested to know the rationale for the change- can you tell us?

Craig, sorry if it came across as me badmouthing you. I want to be clear I am 100% happy with the product and the service I received. There was nothing more than some minor confusion on my part which a little patience or calling would have made into a non-issue. I can totally understand how things could get backed up like that and appreciate you providing the fastest option possible.

It is the premise that the stock rubber grommets won't hold up, or make a much of a difference, to real use under a 500lb bike, so the skid plate is hard mounted like every other dirt bike skid plate is. There is more info in the link I posted earlier about structural changes to the leading edge but without the plate off the bike i'm in no position to explain them.

As Vx stated above. This info and updated skiplate pics are listed and shown on the link provided to skidplate info.

But in short. Over the years I've destroyed every skidplate, I've mounted to my 950 ADV at the rate of about 1 plate a year. I needed to try something else and change this. WELD86 and I worked on a Custom built WELD86 version for testing on our 17,000 mile Wisconsin to Alaska to Mexico trip, and it's been on my bike 4 years now without any issues. I tweaked it a bit more and that's what I now offer to all you. I would say it's been pretty well tested in most riding environments and trail conditions. Yes, it's heavy. But we're riding 550lb bikes plus luggage on trails. Figure ~ 625lbs plus rider..... These aren't 250lb dirt bikes. Most skid plates you find on the market for the LC8 ADV bikes I wouldn't trust on 450, They are fine for gravel roost guards, but not as bash plates.

No worries Vx, I didn't take it that way. I just wanted to clear thing up from the horses mouth, I appreciate your responce and feedback. Thanks to all of you for your support. See you on the trails, CJ
