Trying to find this bolt - M8x1.25, 12.9 grd, 80mm, Socket Head (Allen), Zinc Coated

need 2 of them and for the life of me can't.
can find in black oil coated but they rust.
can find in stainless, but that is not 12.9 strength.
can find in chrome coated, but what grade is that?
12.9 and zinc coated is strong and rust-proof and that's what i want.

any ideas where?
boltdepot.com does not have.
mcmaster-carr does not have.
no go on the local hardware stores.
these guys have a box of 100 and I need 2 http://www.mutualscrew.com/Metric-St...rew-62287.html

in the end i'll use those black oil coated ones if i find nothing else, but i'd prefer the zinc coated one.
got any ideas of where online i can find?

thnx, bill

Metric Zinc-Coated Class 12.9 Alloy Steel

Class 12.9 screws are high strength and coated with a layer of zinc for rust resistance. Size M3 screws are zinc plated; all other sizes have a coating of zinc flake, which provides 600 hours of salt spray resistance. All screws are fully threaded and have a Class 5g6g thread fit. They have a minimum Rockwell hardness of C37 and tensile strength of 174,000 psi. Dimensions meet DIN 912/ISO 4762. Screw length is measured from under the head.

I can't figure out how to link this selection/page, though. To get there, I started on their home page, clicked 'screws and bolts', 'socket cap screws', then narrowed down to metric, m8x1.25 using the filters on the LH side of the screen. zinc-plated class 12.9 was an option remaining.

Thanks. That company is new to me.
If I have no luck with Fastenal, I will contact them.

...contacted them and there metric bolts are in black oiled only, which rusts.

so Fastenal has them but not in stock in FC.
everything ordered into any store requires shipping so getting 2 bolts would cost me $6 in shipping. gonna check other local suppliers and if not i'll just pay that as I don't want rusting bolts on my bike.

Oops, I didn't see the 80mm part. Glad you've made progress on it, though!

Is the original bolt that hardness? I'd be worried about it fracturing if it's too brittle for the application.

that is a good question and i went and verified with bolt bolts that i was not just seeing 12.9 when it was 10.9. both are indeed stamped 12.9, but i wonder if that is overkill. anyone know what other mfg use? maybe 10.9 is just fine for this application. all I know is i've dumped my bike many times on it's side and those guards/bolts have held up like a tank.

this is the guard set i use
https://www.maier-mfg.com/catalog/at...um-hand-guards
it matches very well with Protaper atv-mid bars and has plenty of lever clearance. In fact, I really like that extra bump out area of the ATV guards (vrs the straight bar in that area for dirt guards) as I grab that area all the time to control and move around the bike.
