I think we filled up at the gas station there but everythings a blurr all those small towns look the same.

We stopped at the Dunkins in Yarmouth, ME

I'll bet it was nice to have Company for the first day or so.

I can't remember if you bought a GPS SPOT tracker so we can follow you more closely.

safe travels, wish I was there

No doubt you passed through Bucksport on US1 on your way up from Portland. Bucksport has that cool new bridge that looks like a smaller version of the bridge at Annacis Island (I think I have that right, the bridge with all the cables on the highway leading south toward Seattle from Vancouver, I've been away too long)

It was nice to have Steve ride along, we had a great day on the Maine Coast.

My friend Jim came to mind when I read Kedgi was traveling to Mexico to have dental work done.

.

I can't help but agree with the above . A dear friend was living in Argentina that had dental work done prior to coming to the States, against the advise of family and friends.. Jim drowned in his own blood while in the dentist chair, another story has it that he died in the Lobby of the Hotel he was staying in waiting for the ambulance to take him to the hospital shortly after leaving the dentist office . True Story.

Go for it, I wish I was heading south also, but need to make a little cash first. I rode my f650 from Calgary to Nogales and had 2 crowns done. I more than paid for the whole trip down and back I felt the dental office I was at was better equiped than many here. I had occasion to go to the dentist here in Calgary after the Mexican work, and with the dentist not knowing the 2 crowns were done in Mexico he complimented the 2 crowns saying they were very nice I can PM the name if you are interested. I also stayed in Nogales with the bike, as the hotel just across the border was a third the price of Arizona and had safer locked parking.
300 million people live in Mexico and they also go to the dentist.

Thumb Wifi nofi

It is a new trend in motels in the USA. Wifi that won't work. I'm in Hartford CT tonight. Everything is good. Long day in the cold with a blustery wind but I had an awesome ride down Rte 1 in Maine this morning then a long ride on several slabs to get here before dark. Searced 6 exits to find a hotel, any hotel. There are signs for lodging but I'll be damned if I could find a hotel/motel at exit after exit. Finally in desperation I pulled out my 5 year old car GPS wich is a battery powered substitue for my regular GPS which is in for repairs and it lead me to a Motel 6 or what used to be a Motel 6 in downtown Hartford, Not the best palce I have ever stayed. I went to the McDonalds next door, typed for and hour and half and did a wonderful Ride Report for you all complete with pictures only to have it not post "a security token is missing" and it erases itself. Arghhhh!

The joys of ride reports. No worries I will rewrite and post later. I'm safe and sound, more tomorrow.

You may want to PM JDowns - He's ridden to guatamala for dental work, there's a thread here somewhere.

interesting how most of the naysayers are Dentists...

Dwight:

I was just going to post this same thing.

John Downs went to a great dentist in Mexico. I think he has a ride report somewhere with his name and address

too bad about the Spot Tracker. I could have just sent you mine. It's sitting here doing nothing and subscription is paid until the summer

We also stayed in Hartford, CT at the Motel6 but here was a Dennys across the parking lot. Would be a small world if you stayed at the same one

Welcome to a great WiFi signal but not be able to connect to the internet. Same problems I had

Thumb Why no Wifi?

It has been a constant source of frustration for me on these trips. Wifi that is there but won't work. "Limited Access", "No security token"

Oh well it is what it is.

I typed out that RR last night only to have it refuse to post, WAPITA!

I'm going to try one picture I took in Camden Maine yesterday. Outstanding town on Maine's beautiful coast.

I appreciate everyone's advice on dentistry, especially dentists. I think dentists in NB have priced themselves out of the market for normal individuals. I know of two people in the last couple years who have gone to full dentures because dentistry costs so much. I want to avoid that if possible. Mexico may make that possible, it may not.

One thing I know for sure $20G is not one, but two trips to South America for a cheap old guy like me........ South America, eating Cream of Wheat, wouldn't be so bad, I lost 27 pounds down there last Winter 'cause i wasn't crazy about the food.

Leaving Hartford as soon as it warms up 36 degrees here this morning. Figured out how to find I84 west again. It is all good!

Not to belabor the point, but any medical procedure involves risk. Dental patients have died from procedures performed in the USA and Canada. Simply visit any case law website like canlii.ca and search for dental malpractice and you will find horror stories there of people dying from infections caused by oral surgery. Of course statistically the chances of this happening are low and I suspect the same is true for Mexico.

Yo amigo!

Dwight! Good to see you back on the road. Loving the new bike. You're making me jealous. When are you going to be in Texas? I'm riding that way myself from Florida to Oregon. It would be crazy if we met up again.

Hey Dwight,

I'm sitting here on the Mexican border killing time in a casino in Yuma getting my ADVrider fix and what do I see?

It's Kedgiman heading my way. I'm crossing over to Los Algodones with my sister this morning to go to the dentist when the border opens in an hour. I'll let you know how it goes.

To me dentistry is like auto body repair. Grind out the rot and fill it with bondo. Third world dentists rule. Don't listen to the naysayers.

I'm flying down to South America in 5 days to continue my ride report, but if you're heading to Arizona before then you have a free place to stay.

Saludos,
Juan de los malos Dientes
