But the video was captured at the "Econo" mode, in 720p originally, so that may explain some of the issue.
Yeah, you need to capture 1080, it makes a big diff....

I had to go out in the car today so I tried out the Montana Remote application and it worked well. The VIRB was on the hood of the car out in the rain, and the Montana was on a Rugged Mount on the dash.

I was able to stop/start video and take pictures from the Remote application.

I have been using the GP cameras for some time now. This new camera looks really nice. Thanks for the review and info. One may be on my Christmas list this year.

Ten minutes after I brought the VIRB into the car, the skies were much clearer.

Ok, not a bike video but let's see how this works. It is 1080p.

I thought it looked good too. I'm not the best judge of image quality, but I know what I like. :)

No, the Remote application is only that. A remote control with start/stop video and image capture mode. But the VIRB has WiFi so there's probably a more fully-featured app coming out for Smartphones and the Monterra.

The Remote app is likely to retain compatibility with the older gps units like the 62S/78S and Montana.

This Vimeo version of my bike ride video might work better than the YouTube version...

I'm finding Vimeo much easier to upload to so I should be able to add more test videos quickly.

The one below is just more of the same from yesterday's recording, in rain and on the highway, this time with music by Aoife O'Donovan; a track called "Gone From Here" off her album "Fossils".

Caution - there be banjos.

Does the VIRB allow for an external mike mounted inside the helmet?

To my eyes the last three videos look better.
Looks sharper and the skies are not blown out nice color too.

Couple of questions.
Are these shot with the image stabilizer on?
And the video in post 71 what is the red dot in the center of the speed odo?

Thanks keep up the good work.

Fred

No, image stabilization is not on for any of the videos I shot.

And the red dot is the G-Force meter.
