If any of you have the VIRB or VIRB Elite already, there's an update to the unit software available through WebUpdater.

Version 2.70

Changes from version 2.50 to version 2.70:
Improved software reliability
Improved photo capture performance
Fixed intermittent issue with entering mass storage
Elite Only: Improved ANT sensor stability
Elite Only: Fixed issue with Daylight Savings Time

Note: Your VIRB will update the next time it is powered on. Do not power off while green light is flashing.

Does the VIRB have provision for connecting an external mic? that would work wonders if you tucked one inside the helmet or hooked it to the intercom.

the case makes the difference on my GP. mics pick the sound up from behind. you can hear mine, but only just. its stock. the wind noise didnt get bad till i got over 50. if i remember correctly, i peaked at around 70mph. the two guys in the lead... well... they're pretty generous with the throttle. the guy next to me has an aftermarket muffler on his bike.

The VIRB does have an external usb mic connector, and I'm sure I'll try it sometime.

Wow, now I know why you back it up with music.. the wind noise is terrible. Not that it bothers me toooo much, I'm hopefully picking mine up today.

On an off-topic note, why is your fender brace on top of your fender? I'm not saying it's wrong, it's just that I put mine on the bottom so it wouldn't show.

I'm proud of my fender brace and want to show it to the world!

Just kidding - the bike it was on when I got the brace had it that way so that's the way I put it on mine. I'm fairly sure it's meant to be on this way. Not sure it would fit inside on the DR650 fender anyway.

Ant+

Are there indications in the setting that show which ant+ sensors work with the Elite? The advertising mentions cadence and heart rate but I didn't see the temperature sensor listed. On a side note, I downloaded the edit software and was able to import some GP footage. It appears that I can sync it to a gps file from my etrex30.

Thanks for the sample videos!

It does connect to the Tempe but the information does not get stored in the gpx file. Garmin is promising that it will show up in a future update.

And the VIRB display has icons for the various devices when they are connected.

Sent using strings and tin cans and Tapatalk.

Check the Dashboards here for ANT+ device information.

VIRB Edit for Mac software version 2.2.2 released today:

Changes made from version 2.2.1 to 2.2.2:
Added support for four Asian languages.
Improved automatic alignment of tracks to videos.

And there's also new unit software: Version 2.80

The only difference between 2.80 and 2.70 is that 2.80 fixes a potential mass storage issue.

There are only two models - the basic and the Elite. I think it's worth getting the Elite for $100 more.

Wind noise was terrible so I added music instead.
Still enjoying my GoPro, warts and all but this has opened my eyes to alternatives (have only owned Garmin GPS since my first unit in 1995)

A couple of my videos can be found here:http://gogogordy1.wix.com/scooter-aficionado

BTW- is the music you added to the video in the thread Im quoting from YouTube or another source? If another source, could you provide artist name and song title? Thanks.

The music by Jeb Loy Nichols, "As the Rain" from his album "Lovers Knot". It came from my collection, not Youtube.

This house is soon to be a GoPro Free Zone. Just packaging up the two GP2s and all their accessories for the new owners. Now that we have two Elites in this house, there's no point in keeping the GP cameras.
