I wish that damn GS would sell.

I told my wife I thought about selling the SV to get a better dirtybike, she reminded my of how long it took me to get it, and that I'd probably regret it pretty quick.

Real talk though. If I went erng I wouldn't have anymore excuses...
I told y'all I'd rather ride a slow bike fast, than be another guy riding a fast bike slow.

Plus I kinda like being the underdog.

Hit the Gorges again. Did I mention I like that place?

Nice vistas as you gain altitude

While the temperature was nice today, we're very much in winter

As I pulled into the parking lot there was a guy with a huge, friendly doberman ready to go on a hike. He said his vehicle didn't have the right tires for the terrain at the park. I would've driven it...

Met bikesalot33 at the parking lot. He has a sweet 690 enduro. Too much bike for me anyway

Locomoto showed up a few minutes later and down we went. It was fun to see the orange crush get airborne on the berms.

We encountered a couple minor obstacles

We went down a couple trails I hadn't tried before and made our way down almost to the water

Looking back there made me cringe at the prospect of the climb

It was actually very fun.

This time it was Locomoto's time for a flat

Cool center stand

Gone fishing

Met these 2 guys are the river

Back at the parking lot. More jeeps

A couple shots taken on the way back:

Looks like fun! I'd love a 690 enduro! Albie has one rotting in his garage.

Hey Dave, I'm afraid my rides may be boring to you but I'll be happy to include you guys. I saw bikesalot33's post in the wnc thread asking if anyone wanted to ride some dirt. I bet that husaberg is a lot of fun there

...and we hit the NC Gorges State Park yet again

Albie, Jonathan and I hauled the bikes to the gas station on Hwy 11 and 178. Cheating is not so bad if it is all flat and boring

We hit the twisties and went up to Rosman and took Hwy 64 to Sapphire. The knobbies were fine on the pavement but my turn light indicator not so sharp I Need to take it apart and clean the contacts so it doesn't get stuck

We got to the Gorges park. The entrance has a ridiculously low speed limit and I might have been a bit faster than posted. The ranger was pulling out and followed us all the way to the parking lot and told us to let him know if the conditions of the trail were not good... Nice! That's my idea of law enforcement

Soon after, Anthony and Tom pulled up on their DR350

and XR650

Here we are scattered around, with Albie on the 690:

Then Loco arrived and we took to the trail head. No chance for pics as everybody was going pretty fast... until I slowed us down with, you guessed it, a flat!!!

To their credit they did help me with the tube changed but there's only so much 6 people can do with one tire

We went to the powerlines

We took a nice break before going back up the hill

The hill to conquer:

Loco is running street tires on his KLR so the hill proved tough to handle

Almost to the top

Albie pulling out the tow strap

Stage 3 of the hill

Look at his saturated tires:

Jonathan went up and down the hill a few times:

A well deserved break

Nice view

I got a little late to this party

Jonathan crossing the bridge in style

Tom, Albie and Loco

Break at the gate to Musterground

On the way back I was following Anthony uphill and tried to negotiate a narrow pass besides the rut and ended up shifting into neutral, losing momentum and falling into this rut

We went back to the parking lot fairly fast and rode like hooligans on 64 and down 178. Awesome dual-sport day
