Fort Gordon Off-road

Several followers of my picture thread asked me to post tracks of my rides in and around Fort Gordon, Georgia.

A note on the Fort Gordon tracks... As far as I know, all the tracks are on public-access roads. At no time will you pass a "keep out" sign, but not being expressly prohibited is not the same as being expressly allowed. Those was military experience will know what I mean. Use at your own risk. I'd also advise not doing anything stupid within sight of the housing areas.

I've found that most of the training areas are not used. The roads will vary from maintained, to overgrown, to "are you sure this is a road?" As such, I would advertise this as not big-bike friendly. Following my tracks, you'll find:

Deep sand

Downed trees

Loose sand

Rutted roads

Wet sand

Washed out creeks

and did I mention there's sand... lots of sand?

Here's Fort Gordon Off-road v4.0. It contains 27.5 miles of off-road tracks. Note that there's a lot more dirt in those training areas, but I was trying to maximize distance while minimizing duplicate paths. If you want more, try running it backwards.

The GPX file is broken down into four separate tracks. I normally do them in the following order:

TA 12 (eastern track)
TA 14N (western track)
TA 13-14S (southern track)
TA 10-11 (northern track)

Here's the route I took to eat hot dogs at the Rough House in Abbeville, SC (trip report). Note that there's a bridge out on Lick Fork Road (State Highway S-19-263). There's a well-used bypass through a ford just south of the bridge, but access requires opening gates and cutting across someone's property. I don't know the legality of the bypass, so use it at your own risk.
