Barlow or Bust, May 28th - 31, 2015

It that time again,...to start dreaming of Barlow.

Barlow or Bust, May 28th - 31 (Thursday thru Sunday), 2015

Same rules apply as all my ADV invites....
If YOU are reading this, then YOU are welcome to join us.
...Yes, that means YOU

This is the second oldest 'road' in the entire NW. Built in 1847 by Samuel Barlow as an alternative for the Oregon Trail folk to floating the Columbia River from The Dalles. If you don't know about the Barlow Road (FS3530), then read up. This is our history.

Right Here.

18 of us ADVers did this in 2013 also, dreamed up in "Riding Around the Hood".
Pics start about here:

It really started for a couple of us in 2012 when Scott_PDX, Jungle Man and I rode this most awesome Dual Sport road and spent a night about a 1/2 mile from Forest Creek CG. "We must do this again" was chimed, so here we are, doing it again. This is the sign you'd see on Forest Road 48 heading NE to Wamic, about 18 miles to Wamic and maybe 25-ish miles from Hwy 35:

This is the sign you'll see at the campground entrance, a mile down FS 4885

This is the old dirt-only (no gravel ) Barlow Rd:

This is a NICE small campground right on Cedar Creek and right on Barlow Rd. It is beautiful and quiet,...until we get there This is no city-boy camp, this is closer to stealth camping that's easy to locate and get to, with a toilet for convenience.

Don't expect anything to be organized, it's just us having fun.
We will supply LOTS of drinking water, extra campstoves, extra coolers,....and that's about it. Day rides are dreamed up at night and riders gathered each morning to head out a variety of directions, as there is LOTS to ride here, not just the famous Barlow Rd. We eat well here, so join and contribute to the potluck for breakfast and dinner, volunteer cooked. I will cook up some Liver & Onions on Thursday night for those early arrivals, which only gets a few takers, the rest just miss out on this annual Barlow delicacy

Of course, we won't forget the Barlow Night Ride.
Bring your Cyclops bright lights, yer gonna need 'em !!

Really hoping to make it this year. This always looks like a fun time and it's on my favorite road.

Nobody saw it-didn't happen

I could use some more exploring of that area. A couple weeks ago I had a 2 mph front wash-out on the Frasier Turnaround spur near High Rock. Piggy took a short nap. Cost me a T/signal (replaced w/flush mounts). Maybe I'll have better tires on by then. They're sittin' in the garage waiting for mount, just can't decide. (Happens when you get old.)

I will be on crutches around that time, after knee surgery, so probably just a quick visit from me this year.

Hey Squishy,

Knee surgery in order eh ?

Have ya got the Ice pack set-up and the brace lined up ?

I had my knee done last year and have the hardware. You can have it if ya need to save some $------ Trust me you will need the Ice Pack set-up ! The brace helps for a week or two also. If ya need a crutch just find a stick---

You will not regret having the surgery--I should have done it 20 years ago !

Squishy,
I have my son this weekend so I can't ride out there with him....
So maybe I could drive over and pick you up and we could head over for awhile!
I'll bring the pepsi, you bring the port!
My kid loves to camp but he really likes to ride, but no real place for him to ride there!
