Really? Give the guy a break , What do yo think it should be one of those dollar game apps? Its in the apple store for SALE... FOR 20 bucks. Have you priced a speedo or cap heading device or both? This is a steal and you dont have to have cell service to buy or borrow a used I phone to use as a MP3 player, phone and now speedo.

I don't get it, why should he have?
I think that $20 is a steal considering that I have spent $700 in the last 12 months on ICOs and both failed during their first race.

We ran iphone and ipads last year as nav equipment last year for the Mexican 1000. This is an awesome idea.

The ball type X mount held up through some serious thrashing. We had a USB power plugs hard wired into the harness. The connection to the actual device is the weak link for powering it up. We both lost 2 cords to vibration and abrasion. Duct tape it to the device.

Also- the iphone will overheat in direct sun Baja- rendering it inoperable until it cools down. This can happen in 2-3 minutes during fueling etc. If you are moving, it is OK. You need to build a sun shield to protect the phone, and allow some shading to be able to read it. Tecate box and duct tape worked fine.

Perfect! But make sure there's no sneaky way around it, like if you turn the phone off and back on, the flag somehow has to catch that. But what if it's powered by a cord, and the cord pops off accidently and the battery goes dead? It's a tricky problem to solve!

Pilbara - KM is an option in the settings screen. We didn't want to leave out about 95% of the rally world!

Offroadie - It's no real secret. It works off of the GPS signal for the odo and the CAP uses the accelerometers and the magnetic north though getting everything to work accurately in an off-road setting was where we spend a bulk of our time in development. No cell phone signal is required. Just buy an old iphone (in my testing the GPS works better in the 4 and above though some people had excellent accuracy with the 3gs iphone)

Assfault - I wanted to use this thread as a chance to talk about the app without the thread getting killed into the vendors section so I intended on not being like an infomercial. It's certainly not intended as a secret though, the app is $20.

Happe - My partner in crime and fellow inmate, Whateverdood, will help us get it figured out. Sorry that is happening. We'll be in touch. It's amazing the number of issues we ran into during development that were the result of apple goofiness...

In rally racing, True North is what is used.

Phil, please check my post # 14. I'd like to get clarification on that as it's an important feature for me.

Thx.

Super cool idea! Great for a dual sport ride too.

For those that are discussing cheating. In iOS 7 there is a feature that can lock your device into single app mode. You can tie a pin number to this and the user cannot navigate out of this app without the pin code. Just sayin'

Hogwild - Output is true north but mag north + GPS location are used for the CAP. What I wrote before didn't make sense. It functions similar to a garmin 60csx.

Bruno - Sorry I missed the previous question. Help me understand a little better. You'd like to be able to adjust the actual distance so that it reads a factor higher or lower different than actual? Since it measures distance from GPS it is really spot-on. We have plans to add an odo sensor input, and of course then you could adjust the distance factor. Right now we only have 1:1 to the actual GPS distance.

That is fantastic!

Did you hardwire the phone to the bike, presumably? I have heard mixed reviews on the 12V USB connectors - any tips there?

Hopefully something like this will be allowed for Diabolico, etc, assuming there can be a lock function to prevent other nav/apps.

How would it work for adjusting the odometer for mistakes, etc? Plus/minus and so forth?

Sorry if I missed that in your previous post.

Yes, that's correct as you stated.

"Actual" needs to match the mileage/kms as registered by the author of the roadbook.

IE; the author had his ico set to XX.X wheel size and my turns are continuously off because my device is reading a different mileage/kms than his was when he authored the roadbook.

I need a way to adjust for that.

Thx, Phil
