Cheap Homemade Fork Guards

I have a new to me '05 Beta Rev3. The lower fork tubes are a bit beat up from falling in rocks. I wanted some covers to protect them from further damage and to cover the existing nicks and scratches. New Beta covers are $$. An 8 foot piece of home central vacuum line (2" OD) cost me $9. I cut 2 sections to length (10.25" for the Beta), cut a slit in each tube on the table saw, cut a short slot in the front of the left one for the caliper mount and snapped those suckers on. They fit well and look good if you like white - add stickers if you don't (I don't think paint would hold up well). You can get 9 covers out of the 8 foot tube - that's a dollar each.

Another cheap solution is to use the plastic tubes that organize the clubs inside a golf bag.Tough material and easy to work with.
