Trip dates

At our meeting yesterday, we decided to nail down the dates as starting in Sisters on the morning of Monday, August 25th (time TBD). We anticipate the full trip to take 6-7 days.

Please chime in with whether or not you can make the full trip, and if not, then which days you hope/plan to be meeting up with the group! It's going to be a great ride!

I'm doing the full trip, but I think it'll take more like 5-6 days instead. I'll plan for 6-7 days so if we decide to make a day or two shorter mileage, it won't be a big deal.

I'll be on the full trip. I'm hoping for 5-6 and planning for 6-7. I should have clarified that.

May I suggest meeting at Big Lake Campground? Specifically the "Big Lake West" section that'll be away from the larger campground area. It's a very convenient place to meet at the very start of Route 4 going West and Route 3 going South. Spots 4-6 are on waterfront, and have fantastic views of Mt Washington.

And if any of you wanna ride the long way between Portland to or from Sisters, let me know. I'll set you up with some great dirty tracks that'll take you 2-3 days, depending on how much dirt you want.

We're actually meeting in Sisters. At least a couple of us are going to be riding down the afternoon before and staying the night. One last good night sleep in a real bed, then starting off in the morning with a full tank and a full stomach.

Probably taking 242 West and join up with route 3. It's only 7 miles of blacktop to the route so not bad.

I'd like to have your tracks for another time, but this time I need to get this ride under my belt first. Maybe next year add this section.

Thanks for tip AJ! That looks like a beautiful spot! I might have to check it out if I either get over there a day early or we're running ahead of schedule on the way back!

I don't think I'll have time to add the extra days for the dirt route you mentioned this time around. :( Really hoping to be able to try your Cascade Route in the next year or two though!

The cheapest hotel down in Sisters is $135 a night. I may have to rethink staying the night on Sunday. Maybe I'll camp instead. There is a camp called Cold Spring Campground just outside of Sisters on 242. Anyone want to join me that Sunday?
