You know what really bites me? I had PTO for Saturday , a day off just for The One show, then I -like a fool- pick up a shift in Oregon City because their RN is stuck in her house somewhere in the woods, and it went downhill from there. ......

So this morning I am reading this, telling myself next year will be alright

Breakfast was excellent, thanks.

That's too bad that you missed the show. I preferred last year's show by a little bit, but it was still very good.

Was the show cancelled or postponed?

We went to the show last night (Saturday) after dinner at Fenders.

There was a huge turn out despite the freezing rain that was falling.

People we're really overreacting down there...we drove all over the place in my wife's Suzuki all wheel drive SUV with worn out all season tires on it.

Had no problems at all and got back to the hotel in downtown Portland around 10'ish last night...never even saw a spun out vehicle anywhere.

Drove back up I-5 with no issues either. It was a little sloppy/slushy along the edges but not slippery.

The evening was great...good food and atmosphere at Fenders and a nice crowd & atmosphere at the bike show.

It was cool seeing the wet & nasty floor from everyone walking in in their heavy winter clothing, yet still smiling and enjoying themselves.

Hell, it looked more like a ski resort than a bike show, lol.

Lots of cool bikes on display...now I definitely know where all the old Yamaha XS650's went that I can no longer find on craigslist!

Made fenders at about noon. They were open despite the "Closed" sign on the door.

Fortunately, I asked Michael whether he had gone to the show, and got the heads-up that they were closed.

Oh well, at least we got out of the house.

Most people got their spinning out done with on thursday and friday. ODOT has been pretty efficient about towing all the abandoned cars.

And it has iced up a bit since yesterday....

Sorry...wasn't my intent to sound like a know it all/bad ass, I'm really not like that.

I was stationed for six years in Alaska and another year in Iceland and saw/drove in a lot worse so maybe I'm a bit jaded.

Hearing all the reports the wife and I were hesitant to head down that way but did it anyway.

Based on the news reports we were expecting much worse was the point I was trying to make.

All in all, it turned out to be a nice weekend in spite of the dire weather.

Around here, you will find that the amount of snow/ice that gathers is irrelevant. Driving skill will not necessarily save you either. You will still likely find some idiot whose skill is overwhelmed by the slightest traction loss, and he will usually be either aimed in your direction or blocking your path.

I forgot to mention an added bonus of having at least done Fenders. Two new display bikes arrived while we were there, an absolutely beautiful Montesa...

... and, of all things, a one-wheel drive Rokon.

I think he needs to adjust the bungee-cord chain tensioner.

I'll be danged...both those bikes were on display at the one show last night.

Both definitely caught my eye.

Yeah, the guy wheeling them in mentioned that, so I guess I didn't miss the whole show after all.

I made it to the show Saturday afternoon and thought the turn out was pretty good, not as many people as years past but still quit a few. It really is a great show and you can't beat the price of admission.

That was probably the nicest Montesa I've ever seen, and the front disc on the Rokon looked like a pizza pan with some holes cut it in. There were a lot of great bikes.
