8/31/05 touratech slide show

Just noticed this:

Sorry about the short notice:

Alaska to Colombia with Paul Thoreson - Wed, 8/31 - doors at 6:30 PM,
show at 7
In the summer of 2002, Seattle native Paul Thoreson boarded a ferry
bound for Alaska with the intention of riding his KLR 650 from the
northernmost part of the USA to the southernmost tip of South
America. After a year of touring Central America, Paul and his bike
hitched a ride from Panama to Colombia on a contraband "banana boat."

Known for its drug trade and terrorists, Columbia has become a much
safer place for travelers in the last two years, thanks to the current
administration. As a result, Paul has spent the last 14 months using
Medellin as a base to tour the country, exploring its beautiful
terrain and great roads, and getting to know the warm, friendly
people. And he's in no hurry to leave. Although Paul intends to
continue his tour to Tierra Del Fuego, five months ago he bought a
house in Medellin and converted it to a guesthouse for travelers.

Join us for an evening of photos and stories with Paul, and he can
explain to you in person the magic of this little-known gem called
Colombia.

Wed, 8/31 - doors at 6:30 PM, show at 7.

For more information, and a preview, see Paul's website:

Although this free show will not require tickets, please RSVP via
email to nick@touratech-usa.com. Please put "attending slideshow" in
the subject line.

Yes, the event is at Cycoactive.

Here's a link to the page...it doesn't specifically call out the location on it, but Dominic has confirmed.

I was there

It was really good. He had some great pictures and really gave a good idea of what it involves to get through Central America. I didn't get to talk to him much, but I did meet a couple of riders (easy thing to do when you go there knowing *no one*
