Rip # 79

A good friend and fellow retired Miami Dade Police Officer and AMA racer # 79 Rick Shaw died Biketoberfest at Daytona International Speedway. Until October last year he held the record for the most number of Daytona 200 starts and most 200 laps riden. He died on the speedway teaching a race class. A student lost control taking Rick out, sadly both died.
For many years I would take my sons to the races and cheer number 79 on. Rick and I would still meet ever few months for lunch and talk motorcycles. A great rider and an even better friend.

Before you can be old and wise you must first be young and foolish, and live thru it.
