New Mystery Vespa Announced in Spring

From AF1 Racing:

This spring we are getting the 2015 Primavera 50cc and 150cc and another TBA "to be announced" 50cc and 150cc. It has not been officially named yet.

The TBA 150cc model has ABS, Traction Control and costs a few hundred more than the Primavera. Comes in different colors than the Primavera. Uses some of the same stuff the 946 has (opinion--probably the dash and lights). The TBA 50cc does not have ABS/TC.

Probably best to think of the TBA model as a Primavera "Pro" or "S" version. Its supposed to be an higher-end model than the Primavera. Probably similar to the current LX and S lines.

Official prices, colors and time frames listed below --

all these will be 2015 model years

Primavera 50 4-stroke 4 valve $3,599-March 2014
Primavera 150ie 3v 3-valve $4,799-March 2014
“New TBA” 50 4-stroke 4 valve $3,699-May 2014
“New TBA” 150ie 3v ABS/ASR 3-valve  $5,099-May 2014

Pretty pricey, compared to the other mfg 150s. It will be interesting to see them... or at least read about them.

Various sources report that the 3 valve piaggio motor isn't that fast. It's more in line with the Grom engine than the PCX in terms of performance but the mpg is closer to the PCX than the Grom. Vespas are nice though and their metal frames are a plus.

No matter what your tastes, it's always good to have options. I think the PCX has sort of set the bar for mileage, which is good, as others will try to reach it as well.

Interesting to see what the styling looks like on the 'to be named' one. I like the looks of the Primavera. Hope they sell well here. ABS is a nice feature, although I must admit I don't really understand what purpose traction control serves on a scooter.

At least the price only went up a couple hundred $$ on the new 150 over the LX150. That is the biggest new Vespa I can afford. I wonder about the S150? I considered that one for a long time. And believe it or not, the only reason was because it was a Vespa.

yeah, the 3v fly 150 is pretty slow. even after break-in, it struggles after 50 and the time to 58-60 is loooooooong. the pcx150 utterly destroys it, performance-wise.

I agree. I love Vespas and their looks but when it comes to performance, it's really hard to beat a PCX. I know I sound like a broken record because I always say the same thing but the PCX is that good.

I thought the Fly 3v was a great performer from everything that has been posted. Your summation is the first that hasn't sparkled.

it's a sub-3K scoot. it's a great value and honestly an excellent all-rounder, but it is at its best under 55 mph. at that point, the pcx 150 is just getting warmed up. in my hilly urban environs, it feels like a slightly torquier 125cc scoot.

the fly 150 3v's wins lie in its fuel economy, handling, and in a shocking turn for piaggio, RELIABILITY.

that said, the pcx150 (and its older brother, the sh150i) behave like what we expect from 200cc scoots. they're crazy. (and you pay for it!)
