Regional values

Hi guys,

I have been thinking of selling my F800GS lately. The thing is, I don't think the market for them is all that strong in the NW. It seems like the typical ADV guy up here uses them for commuting and fire roads, and the big GS's are arguably better for those uses. (My opinion) I imagine that values might be higher in places where people have more access to off-road that's gnarlier than what we have, but still not so bad that an 800 can't go there.

Phew. So, that being said... does anyone know of a resource where you can check values of bikes regionally? I can maybe travel a bit to sell / buy a bike, and would be willing to if it allows me to get the bike I'd like for the money I'll get out of the 800.

Thanks,
-Mike

where do you think has better riding than here in the NW? I think you've been riding the wrong trails.
that said, you may be able to get a little bit more for your bike in the bay area but by the time you count in travel etc. It'll be a wash. For better or worse, prices in the nw are typically in the high side of average, as long as your selling from June through August.

Sidetracking, but... It may just be personal preference. I am not a fan of fire roads, they never feel like they go anyplace. I'm also not into taking the GS places I'd take my YZ, like Tahuya or Taneum. Most of the fun off-roading I've enjoyed on my GS has been in Utah, with a bit of Idaho and Death Valley thrown in for good measure.

You may be right, though... I just might not be riding the right stuff. Also, all of my WA GS'ing has been on the west side. That could affect it.

search completed listings on ebay, you can see what people actually pay vs. what they ask for price.

You can try listing it on Spokane/Couer D'Alene craigslist. Bikes and cars seem to be listed for top of the mark here compared to say, Boise. Also the type of riding you mention is plentiful here.

Last two bikes I sold I listed on Craigslist locally. One buyer was from Boise, the other from New Mexico. List it at a reasonable price and they will come. SO will all the nutjobs.
