Thanks for the links, Mike. I'll be sure to check them out. I've got so many lures in the water at the moment that it's taking a fair amount of time just to check 'em daily.

Anything in the Portland area for an environmental geologist type?

The closer to Sandy and higher paying the better.

Still here. I've got an interview tomorrow for the local (16 miles) NAPA store at minimum wage. I've also got a lead on a forestry tech gig up north a bit. The commute sounds interesting or long, depending on the route that I take, but the pay is better ($12). I'd be counting trees, doing inventory, and replanting. But let me know what you're thinking. At this point, I'm driven by income.

Yes.

No.

Can't I just drive some sheet metal screws into my boots? Poor man's tire studs.

I am. I've applied for a handful of forestry gigs and am waiting to hear back. Had an interview for Napa at minimum wage, which I'm not terribly excited for. But I haven't heard back from them, either... soo..... yeah.

Closest I came was trimming limbs off of white pine to guard against blister rust ( no limbs touching the ground , no infection). That was a hard job ( not even close to tree planting) and fun until it started raining... and I was camping in my 30 dollar tent.

Plenty of work in Lewiston with bullet factories ( no I can't get you any 22 ammo ) , toilet paper factory and now my company making high rel electronics. Unemployment at 4.7 percent here. Amazing that the herd of jet boat builders here, mostly in Clarkston, have kept going strong.

Scored a job as a choker setter working for a local logging outfit just up the road. Fired after one day. Didn't even make enough to cover the cost of my caulk boots.
