trying a different size picture here......
The shock is back. sent off Friday, returned by Thursday. And that's over the New year holiday. Rod at top gun emailed me and said the shock was about half worn, easy to compress and a little quick on the rebound. He estimated about 10-15 thousand left on it or rebuild for an estimated 30,000 miles. I opted for the rebuild. The total job, spring, rebuild, and shipping back $217.50
They also sent back the old seal head and piston O-ring.

I've heard the KLR leaves the factory light in the grease department on the swing arm, so I'm going to take it off and have a look.

There's enough room to just move the spring out of the way, but I'm gonna take it off to get it out of the way.

Of course, the normal stuff first. Remove brake caliper and tie it out of the way.

The inside is corroded, but the outside bearing surface is fine. I clean up the inside where the bolt slides through with some 400 grit, then 180 grit, then steel wool. This bike had 3600 miles on it, was ridden in fair weather, and garaged. Of course it was washed a few times. What does yours look like?
