Timmer,
Glad to hear you haven't fallen off the bottom of the world. I've got a GPX I'll be sending your way.

Hey Ron,
If you have a GPX, please send it my way also. I need practice with the GPS and mapping software...

I am currently in Hawaii just doing some R&R.

Dennis

Same here! Would love any electronic copy of the route to start getting my personal map cache together.
Touring bags are in the mail, got LC1 to powder coat those racks for a screaming deal! Gotta keep busy until its time to finally ride again.

Guys...I was told the gpx file is not ready for public distribution. Sounds like the route planning is still being well um...planned.

Laugh Plus....Real Maps

I knew that when the route is finalized, there will be for us non-GPS users at least a route map so that we can pick-up our maps [your guys remember...paper maps? ] if we choose to carry them....

Yeah, I'm pretty sure the .gpx won't be released til right before we ride. We got lucky and got a little paper preview. It looks good, too.

I see where Timmer released the GPX only a couple weeks prior to the ride last year. This Year's route is entirely different from previous routes so we need to scrutinize the details closely. We are using some personal knowledge, some tracks from previously posted rides, Google Maps, BaseCamp, and Benchmark maps. We may need to do some pre-running as well all to get as accurate a product as possible.

We may be able to provide Google Map versions of the daily segments which can provide a text/map version for those requiring something of that order.

I would be happy to generate a GPX file for anyone who would like to practice loading to their GPS unit, but it won't be of the final route until much closer to the start date. I've been getting a lot of practice the last few weeks.

Truth, well as long as we got some hard copies before the ride all that matters. No GPS here, just gonna follow those that do haha but always nice to have your own.
Trying to find a good tank bag with a map pocket for the ride. Any suggestions anyone, KLR specific?

The Wolfman Rainier bag with the KLR specific harness is a good choice.

We posted prelim. .gpx files for original MT 1000 in order to get feedback / help. I think as long as inmates know it is preliminary, you have nothing to lose by posting?

FWIW,

I agree, especially breaking new ground. When Timmer gets back stateside and we agree on the intended general course, then perhaps.

Thanks for the tip sleddog, that's exactly what I'm after! You use one?
It's hard telling what will fit right on the KLR shopping online.
