Nope, not an tar pit or oil spill. It was a foul mud pit disguised as the desert floor. It smelled rancid and it took me 4 hours with 3 people to get the bike out. I seriously considered leaving it until the next day because daylight was running out.

I trailered the bike home after digging it out. Luckiy I had the truck and trailer close by. We were on our way back from LA-B-V and decided to stop in to ride the panamint loop on the way back to Ridgecrest.

The bike cleaned up good and started right up the next day.

Dirty girls

Hey, mine is only desert dust caked on the bike and all my gear. I even had sand and dust that turned to mud inside my 10" lace-up boots. The picture is after the bike was swept off with a borrowed broom. (I'd met up with some RV guys that had bikes and camped with them.)

The trip was May 2009 in central Oregon desert on a four day jack rabbit hunting trip.

More dirty girls

Here's some dirty girls that I met at a hot springs along an Oregon river.

They were doing the mud pack thing. Mom and Dad were fishing nearby.

Not so much dirt as totally impregnated by silt and stone dust, somewhere northwest of Creel in '07.
