I'm working on getting some leave for some of the events. I would like to get some experience and training in. Best way is to race IMO. Anyone got any pointers. I would either be riding my DRZ250 or my DRZ400E. The 400 needs knobbies though. Its set up for street.

I have been hitting lake Ellsworth and just hitting the track as hard as I can in the sections I am familiar with. Never raced before but I'm close to retirement and I would like to start doing something else.

Anyone wanna be a personal trainer to a 35 yo novice?

Yelp, I am 51. I used to look forward to getting older. My thought was I could move up a class and cherry-pick. It never worked out thought, cause guys like Jorski get older as well.

I remember Jorski at Whitney as well. Last MX race I raced was Lake Whitney, 1994. I rode two classes. If I could ride tracks like that all the time I would still ride MX.

Do any of you remember an MX track out at Draper, maybe off of Post Road. It was on the side of a hill. Just went up and down and across the hill. It was whoop city and big awesome berms. I used to ride it in the early 80s. it was a fantastic practice track. You know how that Draper dirt does, over the years it just goes away and gets down to the sandstone and becomes un-rideable. I can daydream though.

I also remember the first few years they ran Interstate, down by the river downtown OKC. That place got gnarly rough. But after a few years it was never the same again.

Damn-I'm old

John, I'm 56. Yep I remember the post road track although vaguely.

I remember when Interstate first opened up. That was a long time ago.
I was rummaging through my toolbox a while back and found an "Interstate MX membership" card dated 1984. I also remember going to an
MX school there put on by Steve Wise. yeah-a very long time ago! Robbie Reynard was riding a PW 50 or something like that. I used to race with Robert Reynard Sr. waaay back then. Back when Maicos were cool! I remember going to Lake Whitney back in those days when Trey was racing pro. Now I can'r remember the year. They say the first thing to go with age is your memory.................

Joe- stick with it and you'll continue to get better. It was obvious to me at Zombie Fest that you are really advancing as a rider in your offroad skills.

This weekend I'm shredding sand at Little Sahara on the KDX. Just put a new wiseco piston, fmf gnarly pipe, and Procircuit silencer. Bike is running great. Been WOT all weekend. Had to change the engine oil today at camp because the clutch was slipping.

Having a hell of a time. Now I gotta get back to real enduro woods training.

Good race. 149 bikes on grid.

Pictures from race: https://picasaweb.google.com/ahseay/...qfg&feat=email

Ken's highlight vid. Caution, langauge and literal "dick waving" at the end of the video from Ken's #1 fan(you can't actually see it though).

Crash217's vid of the race too: http://youtu.be/P7-gbQ_b1eM

I'll upload a full lap of Ken's tonight so you can see the full course.

Thanks for posting Silver.

The race looked REALLY fun.

I saw a lot of new faces there this past weekend. I met a family from the STL area that came down to race on their way to the GNCC in Florida. The dad did well, the son not so much, he center punched a tree and broke a lot of parts on the front of his bike (I saw a picture but didn't get much of a back story of exactly what happened).

Anyone who didn't go, missed out.

Next OHSCS race is at Scipio! DirtyDog once rode his KLR650 there, did an enduro and rode home. So you guys can do this!

Full lap from OHSCS race from Kenneth. Winner of 30+ class. Also of note, nickname is "McNubbin" as he's a pirate with a peg leg.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U52jVExbNnE

Cheers!

edit: Fun story, Kenneth isn't on ADV so I can tell it. One race last year his straps came loose on his leg and it fell off around/close to the start finish line. Yelled at some kid to grab it and bring it to him. Not sure if that kid thought it was the most epic thing ever or if he's scared for life.

Cool2

Double D, thanks man, means alot to me to hear that from you!
Anytime your in cowboy town, let's ride the 500 again!

Silver , 148 riders , think I was 128 or something.
Lessons learned 1 . Them somebeaches are fast in the +50 class
2 . Racing on a empty stomach , not good
3. 3hr practice ride day before race , not good
4. Cold filtered , rocky mountain spring water is not a good race eve hydration.
5. Excuses are like.......everyone's got one , they all stink!

I'm thinking , drop back to trailriders class.
Maybe do a OCCRA race
Definetly doing a BJEC event soon, preferably timekeeker!

Ah I wasn't there, I just went off the OHSCS results page which had 149 riders.

Also OCCRA raced today. Ice, Snow, Sleet, can't wait to see some of the vids come back from that.

Rode scipio this past weekend which will be OHSCS next round here are some highlights. Caution, cussing, crashing, water crossings, and dirt bike bullys.

For this weekend...

OCCRA will run the Konawa bike race this Sunday, as last weekends Sunday race was canceled due to weather.

OHSCS Quad riders:
"Update on this weekends racing. We are re-scheduling the Rd#2 Quad Only race at Redlined ATV Park for the following Sunday, March 16th. The Bike Only race at Scipio is STILL ON as scheduled for this Sunday March 9th. (and NO we are not racing quads at Scipio). Thanks, KO"

OHSCS Scipio bikes round for Sunday is still a go! Loop is roughly 9 miles and an excellent mix of wide open, woods, and gnar, should be a great time. Flyer linked below.

FYI, for anyone planning on racing this weekend Scipio has been cancelled...

"SCIPIO HAS BEEN CANCELLED ---- Just got the word from Brady, and we're going to have to cancel Scipio this weekend. He's down there now and said the trails are almost impassable on his quad and very muddy. The creek crossings are high and we still have rain coming in tomorrow. PLEASE PASS THE WORD ! I'll be working on schedule update later today. Sorry, KO"
