Off road route: Fruitland, I'd to Bend, OR

I am trying to plan a route that is as off road as possible.
I will cross the Snake in Fruitland.

A pit stop in Burns would be good.

I am looking at my AAA Maps and Nex-7 NAV app, and it looks like a challenge.

If anyone recalls a ride report or maybe a link, please let me know.
I would prefer a East to West route with as little North south milage as possible.
10 mile tarmac stretches is fair.

Range will be 250 miles to empty.
DR650

Thanks for reading

Early going

Riding towards Westfall looks like a good idea.

Is there a good way to get to Beulah from Westfall?

From Beulah go north

Somewhere South of the Ironside mountain it would be nice to cut NW and find the 16 and then West until Seneca

Then find some more dirt.

The ORBDR route 5 I think skirts Seneca- I'll dig...

edit: route 4 is called Sisters to Seneca.

4 intersects 5 at N44,10,2 and W119,17,5

Then taking the routes on the link. Route 4 for sure.

I will look more into this, but I feel much better now.

Off road route: Fruitland, I'd to Bend, OR

Fruitland to Burns Junction, south to White Horse Road, west across the Alvord, Fields for Gas. 140 to Doherty Slide, Adel (gas). Adel to Plush, Plush to 395 on the hog back road. North of Abert on 395 to Alkali Lake, across to Christmas Valley (gas) north through Devils Garden / Derek Caves, continue to China Hat Road and you are in Bend.

Now, if you cross in Fruitland, go to Nyssa and take cut-off to Sucker Creek, all the way through Cow Lakes. This will take you to Rome. Cross the river in Rome or bypass by heading through Leslie Gulch, river crossing and hit BJ, then desert free ride to the White Horse Road. From McDermit, you can hit army wagon train roads to Hart Mountain and skirt the Rim to the north. Then Bacon Camp, Hog Back, cross 396 and head north to Fort Rock. You can do 90% dirt roads but fuel can be tight, and you'll never see another human for a good portion of it.

jrod screwed with this post 06-01-2014 at 09:18 PM Reason: route

Google Street view says that there's a gas station in Unity, looks like they have non-eth premium.
John Day, Prairie City, Mt Vernon and Dayville all have gas, including premium.
Mitchell has at least regular gas.
Millican has nothing.
Buchanon (East of Burns about 20 miles) has gas when I drive by, but I've never stopped to see what flavor or what else they have.
Crane has Regular Gas
