When I had a flat in Idaho last week, I remembered that,, I would NEVER have gotten the bead broken if it weren't for Mark's sidestand, and me and Fisherman standing on the bead!
I got it re-seated with all the air we could pump and a beating with a hammer to help scoot the last bit on the rim. Problly won't buy another one just for that factor alone,,,if I had been by myself, I'd still be out there with a flat!

awesome, so glad to hear this two days before I leave for the COBDR with K60's mounted......I do not like these tires, no matter how long they last

BUT

they aren't dead yeat and I don't have extra money to waste on new tires so the COBDR will just have to finish them off.

ride rilly fast on yer way home and toast them old shoes!
I'm running them with tubes on the KLR,,you may have better results if yerz are toobless,,as far as patching/plugging.
I have worn out a new TKC80 rear in under 3000 miles,,(on the airhead GS) but I can usually break the bead with my boot heel,,way softer sidewalls.
I just ordered a new Moto-Pump cuz my 10 yr. old Airman Sparrow was laboring at 60+ pounds,,still working,,but complaining.
Not bad for a 20 dollar buy all those years ago,,and it's bailed out more Cycle-Pumps than I can remember
I may try a Mefo rear,,Arturro got good service and life from one on his Alaska ride,,I don't know if they are tuff to change in the brush?
Ain't no perfect tire for us,,cheap, long lasting, great in dirt, awesome on pavement, not skiddish in rain, not buzzy on yer hands, available everywhere,,easy to mount/dismount,,,blah blah blah,,Hey! Les Schwabby Stores,,you listening!??
Have fun on yer ride,,and remember,,stream crossing + commit! does not = WFO on the twisty thing in yer right hand!

Speaking of breaking the bead, the Shinko 244 front I changed last weekend I squashed the bead loose with my fingers, spooned the first side off, then left the tools on the ground when I pulled the second bead off the wheel and put it back on. ilikeitlikethat

Back in time to go to work (sux)
Almost 1700 miles of smiles on the quarter pounder.
Should we do it again?
