Basecamp - using trackpad in MacBook

I have Basecamp installed in my Macbook Pro. About 20% of the time, when I use my trackpad to move the map, the map spins instead of moving in the intended direction, so that north is no longer up.

If there is a preference to turn this feature off, I cannot find it. Can anyone share a remedy?

TIA

Fred

There is no setting to turn off the map controls. To avoid the condition you describe, only touch the trackpad with one finger at a time.

Use the left side of the pad!

Actually, unless you want to turn the map, just stay out of the lower right corner of the pad.

Here is Garmin's diagnosis:

What is happening is BaseCamp is confusing a gesture of swiping with 2 fingers for a gesture of rotating one finger around another. Swiping will result in dragging the map, and spinning will rotate the map. There isn't really a way to fix this other than to make sure that when you are dragging with 2 fingers you are doing it in a perfectly straight line and not in a curve which will rotate the map.
