Wow that could have seriously ended a lot worse. Hard lesson to learn, but at least you survived it to ride another day.

Can't remember seeing a wire gate across such a wide road (maybe exaggerated by the wide angle video). Don't think I've seen that around here. Wouldn't expect it. Glad you came out alright. Like others, I know someone who caught a wire and it almost killed him. Scary stuff.

I just have to ask:

Were you raised in a city?

There is a fence on the left that is obvious and a fence on the right with what looks like 4 posts together. What were you so focused on the culvert for?

Do you normally wear glasses but were not at the time?

I am glad, of course, that you weren't injured worse than you were. But the fence was screaming for your attention. By the way, we call those gaps where I hail from.

I hit a single strand of barbed wire when I was a kid. Hit me right under the helmet. I thought I cut my throat. Took 54 stitches to sew everything up.

i was focused on culvert because there had been a couple aready, and i was having fun going over them and having the front end of the bike come up. I was simply riding and enjoying it. Not focused ahead like i should have been.

Its cool to think that a lot of people have seen it, but it wasn't my leg work that made that happen.
Only reason it made the msn page is because i sold rights to it to a place up in canada who deals with them, and it aired on a tv show, so the demand kinda went up for the video. I'm not really getting any compensation for it per view other than it may push a few people to subscribe to my youtube page.

wow, lucky you.

Apparently a few years ago (annapolis) there was a drunk bro on a CBR, he got his GF at the time and they were leaving a bar on state circle. GF was the bouncers sister, bouncer felt she wasn't safe and called the cops. When the cops came behind him he took off with the poor girl on the back. Crested the naval academy bridge going towards RT2 north at like a buck thirty. Got air, lost it into a barbed wire barricade. Supposedly they both just sorta evaporated into confetti...

Yeah, I would have used a lot more ribbon than that if it were my fence, maybe even vertical pieces of wood connecting the wires.

Like many here, I've seen barbed wire do nasty things. When I was a teenager, a guy I knew lost one of his twin girls in a Honda Odyssey accident. They were taking turns driving/riding on the back, when the throttle stuck and sent them through a fence. The barbed wire got wrapped in the spinning tires and around one of the girls, turning the fence into a human band saw. Fucking horrible. I won't ride near barbed wire.

Glad you're alright, dude.

What an unpleasant surprise! Tough to see that even if looking right at it.

I still remember a kid showing off on his little dirt bike (late 70sish) in a park when I was around 10. I remember the Wahh wahhhh wahhhh crunch.. He was too busy looking at us kids and didn't notice the chain link baseball backstop. He didn't have a helmet and this was way before ATGATT, so I'm thinking jeans and a T. Facial cuts and the like is what I remember.

Anywho, glad you are fine.

Crap - that is a pretty clear case of negligence on part of the fence owner.
I don't promote litigation, but when, in my opinion, barely-marked barb wire
strung across an obviously well-traveled road is not up to the "reasonable person" foundation for negligence. How much worse would a similar wreck have been after dark? Just throwing my opinion out there.

I rode into a barbed wire fence at the bottom of a hill once, on a big wheel...the toy...It all started there, haha! Glad you're okay though, minus the bruises.
