I revisited the KillBoy thread to see where this came from. LOL, typical!

"I'll put a damn Oregon sticker on my bike if I want. I don't even want to go there. I'd just do it for giggles and poos."

LMAO!

and the bike would say, "I didn't go anywhere, I've been waiting for you."
All joking aside, I went to Germany on a Honda many years ago and went to Canada on the V-Strom last fall both stickers are on my side case.
The bike won't travel one inch without the rider.
I know people feel differently but that's my opinion.
Do whatever you want, it's your bike and you're paying the bills.
If your bike could talk, when you got out of prison it would tell you that your best friend rode it every week when he went to visit your girlfriend, and your wife was the one who lent it to him so he wouldn't tell on her for messing around with your brother, and that would be a sticky situation.

Some of my "stickers" don't say anything:

One says everything:

IMHO, if you rode a bike, any bike, in a particular location, you have the right to show it.

I don't get any stickers where I go; work and home.
Though I do have a Starbuck's sticker, thanks to Poolside.

So then, Jim, some of your stickers are nihilist but your sticker philosophy is existential.

Interesting mix.

I have both sets of "rules". The bike I keep in UK only has stickers from places in Europe that bike has actually been with me.

The bike I mostly tour on in USA, however, has some stickers from places I've ridden on other bikes, as do a couple of my helmets.

I only apply stickers to the luggage so it's conceivable (though unlikely) I could replace the bike and keep the luggage. If I did, I would keep the stickers also.

On a related note, I own Triumph, Harley and Honda T-shirts but have never owned either a Triumph or Harley and do not currently own a Honda.

The only cool stickers imo are the ones you can only get by being somewhere (as far as I know...) I have a Coco's Corner sticker on my Xrr. Its the current no feet version

For me the main reason to put it on my bike is to potential strike up conversation about it, I know I have asked other people about such stickers. For me its all about meeting and talking to other riders about great rides... Usually when we are stuck at home work to make that money.

I've got a collection of stickers on my bike from many of the places I've visited on that bike.

In the seven years or so since I've owned the bike, I've had perhaps five people comment or ask about the stickers. I too always thought it would be a good conversation starter. All those stickers have a story attached. Perhaps people just don't want to open a can of worms and sit through a 30 minute description of my ride to the Barber Museum.

I have tons of stickers/decals because someone on advrider told me they increase the bike's horsepower.

Conversations

The vast majority of people that stop and talk to me about the bike start with a comment about one or more of the stickers:
