I am far from a defender of texting/phoning while driving, but the technology is not as "there" as people think it is. I surely would not want to prevent a passenger from talking or texting while in the car and it is moving. There are some very good reasons for it too. So, until we can realistically figure out a technological solution, we will need to educate and legislate, as sad as that may be.

Wiseblood's "hail of bullets" method could helpfully supplement legislation and education. Consider it the triad of prevention.

I think it falls under the education part of the idea...

Yes there is a car forum doing just that: just about every car forum out there. I frequent a few and every time a discussion arises pointing out the deadly things car drivers do to riders, someone will offer the opinion that riding a motorcycle is a matter of CHOICE.

Car drivers who have never ridden are not often on our side. What's more, overall, NO ONE seems to give two farts about anyone else's life or limb nowadays. Sad, but inarguably true.

You really think it was different in the past? Get real.

The phone didn't do a thing. It's an inanimate object and is without blame. IMO more problems are caused, than are solved, when folks, like you, blame the object and not the person.

I am opposed to any new laws restricting the use of cell phones or texting devices.

Distracted driving is already against the law. Enforce it or don't.

We need an organization to push stricter enforcement of distracted driving laws. Maybe something like,

M-otorcyclist's
A-gainst
D-istracted
D-riving
