There was a fork for sale on ebay about a week ago, not sure if it is still available though.

hi there...welcome to the peaceful madhouse...

me no expert, but IMO,if it's some knocking sounds during cold start, could be the chain tensioner...for the niner,it cost very cheap and easily diy...

hope this info gives you a headstart on the problems....

Cheers,

Put my TDM on the road for the first time in a few years to lend to a bikeless friend for a bit. I took it back and I am riding it and forgot that I pretty much like it, but it has had some issues that I have been addressing:
New steering and wheel bearings front and rear
Sprocket bolt fell off, though the lock washer was on and appeared to be bent over properly. I cleaned up the threads and bought a new nut and it seems fine.
New tires, put on a set of Shinko dual sports and like them.
Speedo cable broke, replaced and worked until yesterday.
Riding a briskly on bumpy dirt road/trail, and I looked down and the speedo pointer was broken off. It cracked clean off and is in the speedo housing. Hopefully I can graft something from another bike onto it. Never had that happen in all my years of bikes, guess it doesn't like being ridden offroad.
I do need to get some case guards for it, build a skid plate, offroad handelbars a bit taller, hand guards, and get used to his heft offroad.

Rich,

+1 one the question how well these bikes hold up off road.

Try these guy's for a speedo. They are parting out a whole bike.

I just bought a fork from the bike they are parting since I bend the forks ever so slightly at the Berkshire ride.

I used protaper CR high bend handlebars, these are not really high enough to comfortably stand for longer time, I would use an ATV handlebar those look a lot higher. Renntech sells crashbars. I made some wider dirt pegs from two sets of motocross pegs.

Hi.
Brand new Tdms are no longer being sold here in Colombia. I looked at the europe site and didnt find it there either. Does anyone know why they are pulling them from the market?

Pozdrav!

Hello gentlemen!

After few days, I finally finished with reading of this thread! I'm really pleased with all the informations that I founded here! It will help me to give my TDM the treatment it deserves!

I forgot to mention that I'm a new member of this world wide TDM Adventure crew, as an proud owner of '96 TDM!

Maybe I will disappoint some of you when I say that I am riding my bike only onroad instead of trying some offroad, but that's the way it is. It's not that I don't like riding offroad, it's just that I don't feel comfortable riding this particular model...of course, my opinion can be changed, but someone need to give me a good reason for that

p.s. I am from Serbia, so forgive me on my english

Here are some pics of my bike!

Cheers!
