Can't really answer these questions for you, in the Northwestern Hemisphere as you are - however, I have sourced brake pads and oil filters from a motorcycle parts place in town here (not a Yamaha dealer) and they seem to be generic across various members of the Yamaha range of bikes. Windscreen well-nuts were acquired from my local Yamaha dealer (via Aussie). Valve shims are common to the WR range of Yamahas, I think - in any case, it was no issue to source them at the time I needed them.
Otherwise, on-line seems to have most of what may be needed - have a look at www.wemoto.com (based in the UK).
The TDM does not appear to be a popular or numerous bike in NZ, but is in other parts of the world.
Can't answer the 18" --> 19" wheel question.

tdm

Hi I'm new to the TDM. I just bought a 1992 and love it. I would like to remove the charcoal canister from it. I've done a search but didn't have any luck. Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks Mike

TDM off-road

Hi,

I am new here, bat a little old in age. I like my little adventures that I can finance and give me the possibility to disappear from the eyes the society.

I am concerned what you think about these videos. These are TDM-s on hard off-road.

Hi,

I am from Hungary. For any years I had a little KTM, Honda MTX, Yamaha XT-500. All enduros. The terrain attracts me. TDM is heavy, bat I would like modify my bike a little in way enduro, that I must not stop on dirt treks, or on light terrain.

Even though you could ride the TDM off road, an old Super Tenere could be better for you.

speedometer error

I was checking my speedo today against a gps and it was off 10mph from 40-75 mph, is this common? I expected it to be off but not by that much.

Many of those previously posted videos on youtube are mine. I go offroading with my TDM once a week. Pretty often an old Supertenere is also riding with us. There are not many places where TDM is slower than the Supertenere. It's all about the rider. TDM has smaller ground clearance, so sometimes when riding over fallen trees, Supertenere goes but I get stuck on the tree. Still my dream-bike would be a Supertenere with engine from TDM and upgraded suspension.
