Wink My first post

Hi, my fellow TDMers! I've came to join the "brotherhood" ;) I have mine about 3 yr and done 50.000km. The machine has 60.000 km (38.000 miles). I've done a few mods, your question welcome.

Can I ask where the belly pan fairing came from? I can't see it at hfcarbon.

Be patient, it will soon be offered in their catalog. I asked that it be made of carbon.

Thank you. It looks good in lava red too. Give the bike some balance.

Replacement TDM

The old girl finally died.
My TDM has 280 000 on the clock and was feeling a bit tired - the gearbox had become semi-automatic....at least it would automatically drop from 3rd gear into 2nd.

I have been using it still as my other bike - a Cagiva Elefant 900 - is proving less than reliable.

I was riding home from work the other day and the gearbox finally became terminal - lots of noise and the bike started to loose power.

That left me with 2 sick bikes & no transport. What to do? Buy another bike of course.

I've picked up a 92 TDM850 with 50K on the clock cheap as the reg & battery were cooked & swapped over all the good parts from my old bike.

Great fun. The Elefant may have to go....

280000 kms on the clock then time for replacement.
Tried abusing an Elefant but now TDM is reborn

Glad to know I have another 100,000 miles to go. So 280K Km, how many laps around NZ is that?

280k miles, that's quite an achievment, do you know if the bike has had any major replacements in that time?

I went for a ride over the weekend, and found myself at Lake Te Anau - here's a pic of where my TDM found itself at:

Earlier in the weekend, it also found itself on the south west coast at Tautuku:

All up, 1,500 kms for the four days, and a nice break.

Nice!

Nice pics Shadowjack. I toured a bit of the South Island a couple of years back and it was so nice to see Lake Te Anau in your post... Great scenery you have there and a great ride too. Any more pics of your tour...?

Just finished reading Bob Goddards book of his Serow tour around new Zealand (Land of the long wild road). Nice to have your great pictures to go with it.

Thanks for the comments, folks.
For a few more pics, I have posted a short RR across in Ride Reports - There and back again - Not a Hobbits Tale.
