It's a southern hemisphere thing, I guess - I know how I feel when bad weather interrupts my riding; how you northern hemisphere folks handle all that snow is a mystery.

Hello. I'm Harald, living in Kyoto. I didn't do so much adventure riding yet, but I'm preparing. First step, skid plate....

I can recognise being set-up, ya know...

Seriously, now - Yup, and nope.

Yup, including Shadowjack-daughter (seen the light, haha)

Nope, because of the scenery and stuff, it's a high-density tourist area, and quite a few are more accustomed to driving on the wrong (I was going to say right). According to a cuz living in the area, it's a dangerous place to ride/drive. He's not so badly off, with his FBT.

And, while distance-wise it's not in the same isolated-from-civilization league as Aus, the nature of the roads means it can take a while for emergency services to get to your crash site. Hope for good helicopter rescue weather...

Merry Xmas, folks, and a Happy New Year.

It's a "Kyoto-special", made from 60x40cm 2mm aluminum and pop rivets. 50 dollars and around 10 hours to make.

How did you go about mounting it to the rear of the guard.Did you bolt it to the frame or part of the engine. I am currently working on something similar for my TDM 900 but I am still trying to work out the best place to fix the rear of the guard.TAM

I was wondering if it was a custom fab as well.... nice work. The sheet aluminum looks router cut/trimmed, maybe cnc before the bending and riveting - very clean. I would think most times the seams would be welded up, but the rivets may be a plus for easier repairs from the occasional bash. Any off the scoot pics would be appreciated. Thanks, Rich
