Thanks for the close up pic. My headlight beam (HID) is also fine for straights. The problem is in tight corners on unlit mountain roads. The bike's lean angle makes the light narrowly focused, leaving much of the corner in total darkness. I probably would have to mount auxiliary lights higher up for them to help in this situation.

Btw, what brand engine guards are you using? Very nice!

2pm here in Tokyo. That's right... I remember that the bash plate was from a Transalp but had forgotten that the guards were as well.

How's the Yoshi Tri-Oval sound?

My TDM...

Ok, just registered and thought I would put up a pic of my beauty...

It's a 2006 mod., bought brand new with full touring kit (topbox and hard case bags), mudguard and main stand and stock Yamaha touring screen (the tall one...) in September last year.
While winterized I fitted new Laser Duo-Tech cans, Powercommander and MRA Racing (double bubble) screen.
The tall stock screen sucks (lot of buffeting/turbulence)! The DB screen is a lot better and I think it also looks better!

I'm from Norway BTW...

I had an 850 in Japan I loved that bike. Wish they sold them here. The 900 looks so cool. I got mine used from Red Barron in Hachiogi. Tanaka-san the manager was fantastic.

More light? You could go the xenon way:

Three times the amount of light (so longer and wider light pattern), less heat, twice as little power consumption and extremely long endurance (should outlast the bike itself). And nowadays it's pretty cheap, and easy to install on the TDM (just the headlight adjustment which I haven't been able to adjust yet is hard).

And welcome. Enjoy yer visit.
Wouldn't that just be the Super Tenere and not a TDM at all?

Recheck that post you quoted and you'll see I've already got a xenon HID low beam I'm happy with the lighting on straights but in tight corners on dark mountain roads too much of the road still stays unlit. I solved that problem on my 1100GS with a couple PIAA 110 watt 910s, but the TDM doesn't have the juice for that. Maybe a couple Phids in the future.

Btw, have you installed HID in your high beam as well? Was thinking of doing that myself but one guy at a bike shop told me it wasn't a good idea because constantly turning it on (and then off when there's oncoming traffic) puts a strain on the battery. Any truth to this or is it ?
